I've been running into problems flashing my xbox. I can't see the cromwell bios screen when the xbox is loading. I did read somewhere in a tuturial that you can still flash your xbox without being able to see it. I turn on the box and wait for the tray to open and then my xbox turns off after the bios disk is inserted. When I turn my xbox back on it doesnt seem to load the bios or something because the chip just blinks blue and the tray opens up again. Can anyone give me some advice?

Don't panic... just turn off all of your DIP switches... it should boot to bank 0... that is what bank the Chameleon Cromwell flashes... OH! and also, you need a 256k or 512k bios to flash from cromwell! DO NOT try to flash a 1mb bios on it... nothing will happen!

Also, kevham, the reason that you cant see the screen is probably that you are using the advanced a/v kit (or you have a FOCUS video encoder...[look by the a/v out port and see if you can see either Conexant or Focus... that is your brand])

I put all the switches back to the off position and now when i turn on the xbox light aroung the eject button flashed green and red and the chip doesnt flash blue at all. i read this might have something to do with the contact on the motherboard but ive checked it a couple of times and it looks fine. Let me know if there is a way to reflash it or something because i dont know what to do.

Turn your DIP switches 3&4 on and PM me with your email. I will send you the X2 4980 bios that I modded in xbtool to fix the problem with the msxboxdash.xbe boot. Also it has some cool colors.

By the way, your problem is probably a failed flash.

yaeh sounds like it didn't like the brand. Did you use a dummy?
cd-rw should work though just try a few brands.

ok then you might not be making the bios cd properly.
Are you making an xiso? Because if you are you shouldn't be.
What about the dummy? How big?
Are you naming it LINUXBIO.BIN all caps?
