You are better with your own cable and Adaptor, you will get the drivers on CD to install, for the time being have a look at the link marked Starview in 2nd line at the bottom and read down to the part about assigning the COMM port.

EDIT:- Also have a look here, for assigning the COMM port instruction and guide (I know it is for the Super, but I want you to look at the assigning COMM port to the Adaptor part only okay).

Hi,

I got 25 x 7 starview box and am trying to flash it without any joy. i have flashed twice using GTrom and thebox_h20081204_455eE_api.bin

but all i get the '-' staying on the last led and the box logo on the tv. i assume im using the wrong bin file? please can someone point me in the right direction?

You are not using the wrong BIN File Are you using the GTRom 4.03 and have you ticked the App File Only box, if so then delete the firmware and download and try another, if it stays with the - on the LED display then go to the link marked Starview and follow the bad flash guide its the first one at the bottom, because it does seem that you might have had a bad flash. So you might have to try it several times with an older firmware, but don't get mixed up if you use the older firmware for the bad flash method then make sure it is the GTRom 4.00 and BIN file 4.51 until you get it back, then revert back to the 4.55 and GTRom 4.03.

yes, it seems like a bad flash, have ticked the app file only box. Used the GTrom v4.00.

I have read that theres no perm fix for starview? Im trying to find the fix from earlier this year so at least i can input the codes manually to get it to work, does anyone know?

Have tried and tested the bad flash method and it eventually works.

Thanks in advance.

Yes the bad flash method definately works, so keep trying, it could take a hell of a lot of attempts 20 to 25.

When you get it back and running there is a gude in there telling tou how to do that manually, if that is what you are referring to.

Nope, not if you have had a bad flash, which it seems that you have with only the -- on the front, so just keep trying.

Yes you can flash over that firmware straight to the 4.55, but it is starview 2 The Box that you are talking about isn't it 9It has The Box on the top left hand corner looking from front). NOT starview 1, as you will brick it with any the wrong formware!!!

Your welcome, but remember you must use the GTRom 4.03, with App File Only box checked to load the 4.55.bin.

Your welcome, take your time and you will get it done fine, you will have to do a fresh Installation when you have got it flashed, don't forget to turn the Key Emu back ON. ;)

Well put it this way it has been replaced in the Library by this firmware The Box 4.55.rar dated December 08 . And it is your only way forward if you are getting no joy with the 8.02.
