Malci You sosrted me out last week only for the hell to zap me again. Got new Software but seems to be diferent from the threads here, starview 2 original what should I use as stuff we used worked but update keeps goin to 170% and then back to zeor tried all the usual emu off default ket leave on sk 2 etc but nothing works. Whats the advice from the master mcfc999 and desperate for footie tomorrow

Use the uk fix from eamo's library, downloader v 4.03 and new firmware 4.55
Can take a while for it to boot in, i did a few yesterday and they took ages to unscramble.

You need th UK fixes and you will get them there okay, use the GTRom 4.03 Loader.

yes from there. they just wont even open at all. i have fixed many boxes before and the files have always opened with ease these are proving very difficult at the minute. could you explain how i am doing it wrong?

evastar, went onto new link downloaded opened gtrom loader 4.00.. picked my file cryptstar v1.5 --core400 bin..clicked download but still at o% half hour l8r.. any ideas seriously goin to throw it through the window!!!

Have you ever flashed a box before are you sure its a null modem rs232 cable and not just an rs232,

I had one like this yesterday and it would'nt start so what i did was i switched box of with button at back and then hit download and then flicked the switch back on and it started to down load, try it might take a few turns,

hey guys i tried to load new firmware for stv 1 but the percentage does not go up when i click on download, after a while it says failed. so what can i do is it something to do with the com port settings im sure everything else i am doing is right, please could someone let me know.

lads
At wits end here. Re-flashed starview 1 and the box successfully but still cannot get any channels. Updating data comes up on screen but dont change off 0%. Any ideas......................

Folks,
I downloaded the file "thebox_h20081204_455eE_api.bin" onto my starview (model: thebox)
I then powered the box up and down again having removed the NULL cable from the back.
I then went into the installation menu, select "NTL" as the provider and then selected automatic scan.
it indicated that if found 37 channels.
I hit exit 3 times until the normal screen came up.
I then pressed the menu button and then digits 1570.
I wet to the nagravison line and hit the right arrow. nothing happened.
I went down to the Key EMU line and it already said ON so i left it
i pressed exit.
i can only find RTE1 all others are not there yet. I went to Sky Sports 1 which is meant to be one of the first to come back.
Can someone confirm that it doesnt just come back automatically and that it takes some time. I am getting the dialogue box saying Data is being updated.
I have confirmed that the 455 firmware is installed on the box.
Any clarity on what is a reasonable time to wait would be much appreciated.

Then acceot the language then Installation and do a fresh one, that should sort it.

hi malci, i'm new to all this, it won't exit out of language - english, it will let you go forward as far as scanning, which fails, then when you go to exit you're back stuck on language. thanks for the reply.

It's only because it has not installed correctly, are you sure that you are choosing your correct provider and have the cable in the cable input socket, if you are doing that and still getting back at the same place. Then turn it off remove and do another relash.

You need to do a factory reset before you auto scan, then turn emu back on and update on s*y2. should only take a few minutes after you have finished the auto scan.

Hi Malci
Like Dwyer, I too am stuck. My problem is that I have done a factory reset on my genuine starview box and since then have not been able to get ANY channel found - I have done obvious things - Slected NTHell in installation,checked my signal, tried resetting again, manual scan, messed around with some of the user setup settings - nothing. I even flashed the latest software today - no joy, I am still stuck in the main menu !
Assuming it is a setting, suspicious of modulator setting - PAL-I Channel38 - not sure if this is right for Dublin - but this may have nothing to do with problem. Appreciate any help ye can give me .......

nothing to do with them settings there ok,try a factory reset and then an auto installation,what firmware have you flashed your box with?

hi guys, afterdawn addict, malci, ssnrc, this problem occured after nthell knocked them off, all cables,settings, switches were installed correctly, then some guy along a thread, suggested ''doing a factory reset''. nevertheless is it possible to get back to ''main menu'' or have they succeeded in knocking off completly
