Friend has a retail Wiifit NTSC on a NTSC Wii with a modchip (we thought it was a Wiikey, but attempts to update and use config disks did not work). The Wii is also 3.2U firmware. The Wiifit disc just spins when we enter the Disc Menu and nothing loads.

I tried a backup copy of my SMG and it does the same, however Mario Kart loads up but we get a 001 error. Older backups still work though.

My question is.. shouldn't an Original disc work perfectly fine? From looking at various forums the only modchip that I can think they have is an first generation Wiinja.. if thats true is there nothing we can do?

i think u will find that you have duplicate Wiikey chip hence you are unable to update the firmware. Wii fit works with Wiikey firmware 1.9s so it seems that you need to replcae your Wiikey chip with original, if you want to run wii fit, SMG etc!
hope above helps

Probably not the case but have you tried pressing A on the disc channel as its rotating, this initiates the system update needed for Wii Fit, I had to go and do this for a neighbour as they couldn't work out why it wouldn't show Wii Fit logo on the disc channel.

I got the replacement but that did not work either. :(
However, I found out the interesting stuff.
My console(know for sure) & game(where I can find the info, all I can assume is the disc says for usa use only) are both USA NTSC so it should work without troubling with blocker. But when I got a votex backup that is also NTSC and ran blocker anyway than ba-ba-boom! The backup is running perfect.
I'm guessing region jumper in d2ckey might have something to do with this?? Well, I'm happy with this backup for now until the next comes.
Now, what I'm going to do with this original?

I've clicked the channel and the disc just continues to spin, no update is asked. I guess we just have to open up the wii and figure out what chip it is
