Multiple DivX/XviD's on one DVD?

Hi all, I finally got a set-top DVD player ( ya ya, welcome to the 21st century ;) ) and I'm trying to figure out how to put 3-5 DivX/XviD rips on to a DVD that I will be able to play on my set-top player. I managed to find the guide for DivX > VOB and I figure this is probably what I'm going to need to do as my DVD player doesn't play [S]VCD but I'd like to clear a few things up as well as get your opinions/guidance on exacly how to do this.

First off, according to the guide I have to re-encode the .avi files to mpeg2 using TMPGEnc, correct? So, to keep the file size down to approximately 1.3GB ( leaving room for audio ), can I just use lower bitrates or will I lose a lot of quality? It seems like if the .avi was encoded w/ a bitrate of X I should be able to use that same bitrate when re-encoding it to MPEG2, but then again I'm posting this in the noob section for a reason so feel free to enlighten me.

Second, are there any guides to creating a navigation system? I'd like to be able to basically have it set up just like a normal dvd.. navigate via a pretty menu to the movie I want to watch, then optionally navigate to different parts of that movie like chapters on a normal DVD..

When Encodeing your DivX files to a Standard DVD you will Only be able to get One Movie on a DVD-R, If you Lower the bitrate down that Low useing the standard DVD Resolution the Files will look absolutly horrorable...But you Can get 3 or 4 Full Movies on a DVD if you use the SiF DVD Standard...The SIF DVD Standard uses the Same Resolution as VCD but you can use Mpeg1 or Mpeg2 ,So at that resolution you can use a Much Lower bitrate and still achieve a Clear Image..
So what you are going to have to do is Do all of the Settings in TMPGEnc Manually because it does not have a DVD Template for the SiF DVD Format so you have to do all the setting manually..Before you can encode your DiVx file in TMPGEnc you are going to have to decompress the audio because TMPGEnc does not like Compressed audio which your Files use ,To decompress audio I use a Little Tool Called "Decompress.exe" if you want you can message me with your E-mail address amd I"ll send it to you...So when you Run TMPGEnc the WiZard will Pop up to guide you through the encodeing set up, You will not be able to use this ,So close the WiZard and Load in your First divX movie if it gives you an error like "Can Not open or Unsupported" then you will have to go to "options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the Priority of the "Direct Show File Reader" to "2" this will get your Files Loaded , Now click the "Load" button in the Bottom Right, then navigate to the TMPGEnc install directory into the "Templates" folder then into the "Extra Folder" and then Load the "Unlock.mcf" template ,This will unlock all of the Settings in TMPGEnc ,Now Click the "Settings" Button and under the "Video" setting set the resolution to 352+240 if you Live in NTSC Land and to 352+288 if you live in PAL Land, Set it to "Mpeg2" the the "Rate Controll Mode" to "CQ(Constant Quality)" then click the "Setting" Button next to it and then set the Max bitrate to about 3500kbs and set the Minimum bitrate to 1000kbs and then set the Quality slider to 75%, Now go to the "Audio" settings and set the "Stream Type" to "Mpeg1 layer 2" and then set the "Bitrate" to 192kbs and set the "Sampleing Frequency" to "48000hz" and set it to "Sterio" and now close the setting windows and go back to the main Page and click the "Start" button and it will then encode your File to Mpeg2 for DVD and the File size should be Quite small but with Better than VCD quality because you are useing a higher bitrate for that resolution and you are useing Mpeg2 which has higher quality than Mpeg1/VCD does...After you have encoded all 3 or 4 movies this way you can Author them to DVD useing a DVD authoring Program Like "Tmpgenc DVD Author" (different than TMPGEnc the encoder)....Good Luck
