Hi, i just installed my D2pro in my wii. I ordered it pre-soldered to the wii clip from modchipcentral. With the mod chip on it can play originals flawlessly but i cannot get it to read backups. My wii firmware version is 3.1U I am using Memorex and have been burning everything at 2X. I heard Ritek is the best to use but i do not have any at the moment. I've never had a problem with memorex running backups on my x360. I know they're 2 different consoles. I heard that the light on the chip is supposed to be a solid red when playing originals and a solid blue when playing backups. the only light i see is on startup, it flashes red for about a second. Any help soon would be awesome. It's supposed to be a gift for my fiance's birthday on thursday!
When I hooked up mine, both the red and blue light flashed on for a very short time (like the 1 second you are talking about). You may not have the clip seated on the chip properly. Test it before putting it all back together.
I would also recommend updating the Wiifirmware to 3.2U via the internet. (Not necessary but recommended, this would not prevent backups from playing)
Finally, check your backup image to make sure that it is good. It should be 4.37 GB, if not, you have a bad image and might cause problems.
Which version of d2pro do you have? 15 wire install or 9 wire? I know on some older versions of the d2pro (15 wire i think requires this) you have to set the region jumper for the chip to work properly. If you have the d2pro 9 wire version then you don't need to set the jumpers on the chip itself buy there is a clk jumper on the CLIP that you must bridge. I forgot that once and had the exact same symptoms as you, loaded originals but no backup.
I do not know what version of the D2pro i have but i got it working, actually my uncle got it working. i dont know how, he did the exact same thing i did...except now it works... thanks for all the halp guys!

When did you buy the Wii? There are numerous D2C2 drives out there at this time and the original D2Pro will not work with a D2C2 drive. You will need the D2Pro ver2 to get it to work if you have the newer drive.
