Hey guys, I really hope someone can help me. I bought a wlip and a wii-key and soldered them together with out any problems, however, as I took apart my wii I pulled the ribbon cable out of it's niche and the brown clip came off it.
Is there anyway to replace the clip or keep the ribbon in the correct place or have I totally screwed everything up?
I tried holding the ribbon in place to try and see if it would work at all, sometimes the wii would spin the disc, accept and eject discs but it never succeeded in reading a disc (both legitimate discs and backup discs) but the fact that the dvd drive was doing anything at all was a bit encouraging. I need to find a way to get the ribbon to stay in the correct place so a replacement clip or something would be ideal.
If anyone can help with this I'd be sooooo grateful.

It turns out I haven't royally screwed myself, I have been able to slot the brown clasp back into the wii so that the ribbon stays farely secure, although I noticed that when ejecting a disc the ejection mechanism continued even after the disc had been ejected, for about 15 seconds, and to insert a disc you had to push one in slightly further than usual before it was taken from you.
The chip I installed didn't hasn't allowed me to boot any backups, as yet. Upon removing the chip the ejection and insertion problems have ceased and the wii is functioning perfectly again.
I'm going to take another look at my soldering, maybe it hasn't been done clean enough and that's what is screwing up, other than that I haven't got a clue.

Could also be that you didn't clip it down far enough...

I haven't experience with the wlip but installed my chip using a wii-clip, and you do have to press it down, quite hard to ensure a proper connection, dont be afraid to apply a bit more force than you would expect, altho don't get a rubber mallet out or something either....lol!!

You need to register but I'm pretty sure that's what you want.
