well, for years i played only offline. And if you like the single player then sure it is well worth it just for the games. Only because you really do not know what your missing. Once you get XBL then it is all over. Because then you will have the urge to play online & meet new people more then you will want to just play offline by yourself.

also i think shooting games is the only reason for live i mean i have tried racing games and whatnot online and they truely do not seem as much fun as shooting games i like the other games for compain and so on

I think it is because even without live, it's still better than ps3.

i play racing games with the guys in my gaming clan online all the time. We have a blast. Gives us some time away from Rainbow Six which we play about every night.
Like i said above, the offline can be fine and a lot of fun. And as long as you do not go on XBL at all and do not know what your missing you will wonder why people pay $50 a year for it. But once you try it you just get hooked.
I played every system i had offline up until about January of last year, then i decided to give my one month free trial a go. After that it was all over. I met a lot of people and playing online became more addicting then i imagined.

if your not going to use live, the 360 is prolly not worth it. honestly, the games made for 360 exclusively ae either only good on live, or arent that good anyway. not to mention the system is very unreliable. if you arent going on live, i would reccomend you consider a ps3 or wii, depending on what you ae looking for. the ps3 has better graphics then xbox and wii, and several other nice built in options, like blu-ray and FREE online play. the wii has graphics around the same as the gamecube did, but the motion sensor controllers and games having proven, atleast to me, to be pretty entertaining at times. i honeslty think the only reason the 360 has stayed so popular is because of xbox live. and even then it costs to get on xbox live, and then everything on the marketplace will cost you something. i have a 360 that i play alot. i wish i could trade it in fro a ps3, but unfortunalty everyone i know has a 360, and the ps3 is not moddable yet. choice is yuors, but without live, the 360 seems worthless.

no you didnt...... please tell me you dont really feel that way. as a consumer you should know better then that. just curious, have you played both consoles without getting online with them for a couple of weeks each. without live, the xbox 360 has one advantage over the ps3, and that is the dashboard layout. after that, everything goes to the ps3. graphics, features, reliability, etc....

You are right, i'll give you the reliability part. If we are just counting gameplay and graphics, xbox 360 hands down my brotha.

I know. We're past that. It's all good. ;)

It's remarks like that which will get this thread closed. We'd be better off if we just stick to the topic... 360 with or without LIVE.
On topic... LIVE can get quite addictive. I feel the $50 a year is well worth it. It'd be the same as buying another game. With LIVE, you get a lot of use out of your ~$60 (game) investment.
Of course... to each their own. But hey, you get a free trial. You might as well use it.

multiplayer is the best part of having an xbox 360...if you don't want to go on live here are a few games that are awesome without live:
bioshock
oblivion
gta 4
nba 2k8
lego games
the demos will keep you busy
if you want to try out those multiplayer games, download the demos with multiplayer, create a silver account, go to the marketplace blade -> choose redeem code and enter:
HDYDW-RRK94-2YGGX-Y7M34-VQ86Q this came with my forza 2 game but I cant use it because i already have a gold membership.
