alright im normally good with this kind of stuff but this one is stumping me. my friend brought his xbox over so we could play halo 3 on different tv's. this is how my xbox is connected up:

router --wired--> xbox 360

now im trying to connect his xbox to the internet through windows ics. its set up like this:

router --wireless--> pc --wired--> xbox 360

i have it connected from the pc to the xbox with a regular ethernet cable. at first i did it with a crossover cable but then i read that 360's dont need to do it with crossover cables like the regular xboxs did. now when i try to connect i get connection trouble. i fail the ip address test. my xbox connects fine but his wont connect. can anyone help me fix this please. thanks.

you have to set up connection sharing, you could just unplug the pc while your friend was over. also if you try to set up 3 different connections, (3 diff ip addresses) most service providers only provide you with two.

why do you have to connect the xbox through the PC?

i imagine it has to go through the pc because its picking up the internet from router that is either upstairs/downstairs/down the hall and then is sharing it to the 360.

yeah i have to connect through the pc because i dont have a long enough cable and i dont want to buy a wireless connector. however, it randomly started working. so i dont know whats up. it didnt work and then i gave up on it. then i went back to it and it started working so who knows. thanks anyways

you welcome, sounds to me like it was a setting on your pc. antivirus, anything could've been blocking it. glad you got it working though.

if its like the wireless on my computer it is very crappy. it will randomly stop getting signal for 5-15 seconds and it will cause everything lag really bad. if thats the case im not exactly sure what you can do to fix it since i havent been able to make my computer stop having the issue.
