Well I can tell you Having One Sequence header for every 15 GOP"s is NOT going to work...Haveing a 15 frame Gop is OK but you MUST have a Sequence Header before EVERY Gop not Every 15 Gop"s..That is the whole Nature of that error you had but the other error were for different reasons...As long as you have a GOP has 21 or less Frames and a Sequence header before Every Gop and are useing on of these Resolutions for NTSC of cource "720+480(Full D1), 704+480(Broadcast D1), 352+480(Half D1), 352+240(Sif), and you have a framerate of 29.97fps or 23.976fps with 3:2 pulldown, and have a Video bitrate Under 9800kbs, then you will have an Absolutly Perfectly Compliant NTSC DVD Mpeg2 file.....

MPEG-2?? that's wut i should use.. i was using 1,, not that i know wut the different is.. But since i live in Finland, we don't have NTSC... atleast not our TV.. we have PAL? u know the settings for the best quality for PAL?

Well that was your Problem ..All Standard DVD Formats MUST Use Mpeg2 ,There is only one DVD Standatd that uses Mpeg1 and that is the SIF Standatd which is not used Very Much and when it is used they usually use Mpeg2 with it...The PAL DVD Standard needs a Resolution of "720+576(Full D1),704+576(Broadcast D1)
,352+576(Half D1) and ,352+288(SIF) and must use a Frame rate of 25fps...I believe the PAL standard supports a Slightly Longer GOP but you still get better compression with a Shorter GOP so a Good size for PAL is 12 or 15, and PAL also needs a sequence header before Each GOP....Cheers

I don't want to seem as if I am disagreeing with you, but that is a bit misleading:
He is not creating DVD STANDARD files at this moment in time, he is trying to create DVD-COMPLIANT files - different things....
Look in the TMPG DVD Author help file under DVD Author Specification, there is a full page, approx 1/3rd of which is specs for the use of MPEG-1 files as sources for DVD Author, which Paracite is using..
MPEG-1 files ARE acceptable, if they meet the input specs (see Supported video stream specifications).
All these settings are supported in TMPGEnc 2.5

What makes you Think that he wants to use Mpeg1?? I was under the Impression he was useing Mpeg1 because he thought he had to, and if you are going to use the Sif Standard which Is the Only DVD standard that supports Mpeg1 you Might as well use Mpeg2 because of the superior Compression cuz the SIF standard will support both Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 at 352+240/288-PAL for DVD and Mpeg2 Looks better........Cheers

Nothing, and I never claimed such.
I was trying to point out (and failing miserably, it seems) that there is a difference between creating DVD STANDARD files and DVD-COMPLIANT files.
As Paracite is using TMPGEnc to create files that TMPG DVD Author will ACCEPT, I attempted to point out the difference.
DVD Author is the program (mentioned as being used) responsible for creating DVD STANDARD files, which it creates FROM DVD-COMPLIANT inputs.
input file(s) -> DVD Author -> output files
where input file(s) can be MPEG-1 (DVD-COMPLIANT) OR MPEG-2 (DVD-COMPLIANT) as listed in the help file of DVD Author.
output files will be DVD STANDARD.
Your statement that All Standard DVD Formats MUST Use Mpeg2 was misleading, and I was only pointing that out.
I apologise if the failure to communicate clearly was mine.

Umm, ok, now i've converted to VOB.. but howcome the Audio_TS file is empty, and Video_TS file has things in it!?
Can i anyway burn the movie and hear, or will it be mute?

Paracite,
If you have got to the stage where you have VOBs (assuming you used DVD Author), you have a playable DVD structure - try it out in your software DVD application.
You only need the VIDEO_TS folder (and all files contained in it, of course) on the DVD.
WARNING: the AUDIO_TS folder MAY be needed on the DVD (even though it is empty).
As far as I have been able to ascertain, the AUDIO_TS folder came about because of the addition of DVD-AUDIO support to the DVD Standard (addition was made about a year after DVD-VIDEO Standard was released).
Subsequently, it seems that:
SOME players NEED the AUDIO_TS folder to be there or they will not work.
SOME players take up to 10 seconds longer to recognise the DVD if the AUDIO_TS folder is missing.
The VAST MAJORITY of players couldn't care less.
So, burning the empty AUDIO_TS folder on the disk will do no harm, it takes a very small number of bytes (an entry in the structure table), and MAY improve compatability with SOME players.
Suck it and see....

Good,
there are a few things we can do to improve quality, if you want, but it can take lots of time.
TMPGEnc 2.5 is VERY powerful, but also very complicated, and that is where quality can be lost or gained.

now another problemo accured, now sound on the movie, burn process was complete, i burned it on a DVD+RW.. it played on our DVD-player, but without sound..?

That's odd, an MPEG file NORMALLY has both video and audio streams..
What is the full name (including extension part after the dot) of the output file?

If that is the file that TMPGEnc 2.5 output for you, then yes...
I assume the input file was the same with .AVI instead of .MPG
Can you play the MPEG file in your software DVD application ok?

Nope, tells me Error downloading codec, that's when i try with Windows Media Player.. i've got both DivX and Xvid codecs downloaded + ac3filter
and yes, input file the same, xcept for .avi

Windows Media Player cannot handle MPEG-2 files, hence the error.
Have you got WinDVD or PowerDVD or some other DVD Player software?
Such software is a MUST for testing the stages - windows media player is no use for that.
