IGN Needs to Stop Giving Out 10/10s!

IGN just gave a 10 to Metal Gear Solid Guns of Patriots http://ps3.ign.com/articles/881/881472p1.html . I have played MGS games, I no doubt they are good, I'm sure this one is no different. But a 10? I dont' think so.
IGN gave GTA IV a 10 and it definalty did not deserve a 10. They need to stop issuing 10s like it's hot.
Meanwhile: can't wait for the 12 month that it's suppose to take for release of MGS for Xbox!

one year after release date? it's probably they have to split the BD to multiple discs. and with a 4.5gig install on the ps3, the 360 is going to struggle in loading.
if they remove cutscenes to save space, it's not going to be worth it. mgs was always about the gameplay and cutscenes. they flow very well.
mgs is a playstation game. it doesn't feel right on a different system.
IGN is probably on something. 10 for gta iv is way off. it's a fun game, but with the impact san andreas left, it doesn't live up to a 10.

MGS fills up a BD? They must have put same multiple images on different sectors of the disc to make it load faster. They did that to Oblivion's 6Gb game and filled up a BD so it can have similar load times as Xbox. Really sad.
But of course if it's 10+Gb of cutscenes, that's different...

i agree, they are giving out tems way more then they should, but i wont argue that mgs 4 may be a ten. i havent played it yet, as i dont have a ps3 (hopefully i will soon), but IMO MGS has been one of the best series of games to ever be released. i still have all of them. The story line is absolutely amazing, and original. The games have always been impressive. i would say that when they came out, every game in the series would have been a 9 or better. i hope that this game will be the same. but as far as this is concerned, your are right. and GTA IV doesnt deserve a 10 at all. although it is the only game of that series i have ever enjoyed playing, the GTA series is still bad. The giant city and an ability to do almost anything you want are the only good things about any of those games. the graphics are terrible, and the story lines have always been bad. sorry, i hate those games.

I guess we all have our own definitions, but I personally feel that a game that gets a 10, or even a 9.8 should probably be revolutionary, I mean they do something that has never been done before. As flawed as it was, I would have rather seen a 10 for a game like Mass Effect for having a vision, or God of war for pretty much being flawless in it's Genre instead of GTA4.
I haven't played MGS yet so I'm not going to talk bad about it, but other than the 1st ps1 MGS I really haven't been a big fan after characters started to be uninteresting and cut scenes got boring to me. Step your game up franchises instead of just adding a new next gen finish to the same old crap, and these bastards at IGN can stop handing out 10's.

Well, you got to remember that a game reviewers scoring system is different than, say, a beauty pagent judges system.
When a game reviewer gives a "10", it doesn't mean that it's a perfect game. There's no such thing. It means that they believe the game is "a must buy".
Also, you could probally compare game reviewers to cigerettes... people who use them stick to their favorites. You got to find one reviewer who thinks the same way as you (when it comes to games), and go by what they say. And then, still, their word isn't "gosple", it's just a starting point in your decision towards purchasing a game.

I agree that gta4 was definitely not a 10/10; in fact it was a disappointment many times over from what I had expected. But mgs4 is another story, you have to play it to understand how it truly deserves the 10/10, or at least a heck of a lot more than gta4.

I'm not gonna fanboy anything but kojima loaded the game with pro ps3 things throughout. Just one example would be making a joke cut scene where it asked you to switch to disk 2, and then went on rambling about how good blurays are; judging off of all the pro Sony things throughout it looks like kojima has no intention of going cross platform with this one. There's more chance of halo going to the ps3 than mgs4 going to the 360.
Besides that Apple products blatantly advertised through out the game, you even have an ipod which you can listen to music tracks that you find throughout the game. I don't think ms would touch the game with a 20 foot stick because of all the Apple advertising.

didn't kojima say that it was possible to port it to the 360? he said he wanted to complete it first for the ps3, and if he chose to, can port it to the 360.
the metal gear series is something i enjoy playing. stealth based is way more fun (and sometimes frustrating) than all out shooting. i've played most of them (no ac!d for me) multiple times just because it has major replay value.
like i said before, the metal gear solid games only feel right on playstation systems. i'm not going fanboy because each system has it's pros and cons, and they have exclusives. i'm still debating on whether to get the 80gig mgs4 bundle; maybe for my birthday in a few weeks :)
