Hi, my xbox(modified) plays cd and dvd movies fine but more often than not games freeze after a couple of minutes. A total screen freeze, unable to do anything except turn xbox 360 off then on again. I assume this has nothing to do with the laser as it will play cds(music) and dvd(movies) with no problem. I have already had my harddrive fixed previously about 3 months ago for 3 red lights. Wondering if anyone has had similar problems. Is this a manafestation of hardrive problem? xbox 360 worked fine after hardrive repair for about 2 months
well, the hard drive really shouldnt have anything to do with the freezing. and it could be your laser, as cd's and dvd's are a lot different then 360 games. the system has to constantly load information from the disc. if you are playing backups, make sure you are using good high quality media to burn on. when you say you got he hard drive fixed becuase of the red ring of death, i assume you mean the motherboard. i repaired several consoles with that problem, and not once have i seen a hard drive cause that issue. you might find out exactly what it was they did to fix it. that will help the people here to try and figure out what is going on.

huh? why did you fix your HDD?
for RROD you need to do x-clamp to fix it. Freezing is 1st symptom of RROD to come. You can do the x-clamp mod to fix it now, or wait for RROD, your choice. Either way it will solve your issue. I'm about 89% sure.

x clamps arent always the problem. although they design is highly flawed, and should be replaced when you do a repair, that may not be the only issue. it would be good if you could get an error code for us. that will limit the possibilities. the x clamp fix may do the trck, or it may just be one part of the whole problem.
