i am new to the scene and recently purchased a chipped wii it has an argon chip and is apal version. two backups mario kart and boom blox are asking for updates is this ok as they are pal also ihave updated yesterday via the net but the discs are still asking for updates. sorry if this seems a daft question but i have been told it could brick my wii. thanks

So long as you're 100% certain that the games are PAL and the console is PAL there should be no bricking (semi or full)
