I have an AVI movie in my computer. Right so far so good! What im getting at is that what i tend to do is a 1 min test b4 i burn the whole film reason being to see if it will work! I'm using all the right proggrams (i Tink)
1)Virtual Dub to extract the sound and then saving to movie with no sound
2)Using TMPGE
3)Then authoring with TMPGE
4)then burning we have tried many drifferent types of proggrams Nero 6, TMPGE, Record Now.

The thing is that they all seem to work when we do a 1 min test even in my home DVD, but when it comes to burning the whole film the home DVD is not having non of it! It jus does not make any sence!!! Evrything seems to work on the X-BOX 1 min test and the whole film! but where I'm i going wrong???
(I'm using a Verbatim DVD-RW)
we found out that are home dvd player does not take DVD+RW! Thx to any1 that can help!!!
P.S. Thx to the whole forum for many advice point's!!!! ur all top people!!!!

rizzla,

I think your problem is your media. The majority of DVD standalones don't like the taste of RW media ? Use the RW stuff to get your burning techniques down and single write media to do your backups with. Using ?R should work fine

Should work ?

Hi rizzlaif you have a v1.0 xbox it has a thompson drive in it, which will read all formats, both r and rw. Maybe i read you post wrong, but didn't you say it works on the rw for the 1min test, but the whole movie it won't read the disc?

Personally, and like ScubaPete already stated, a media change would be good, and if you're going to stick to rw i tink +rw is better than -rw. Though all my -rw's have ever only lasted 2-3 burn, and then nothing will ever read it again (going to have to look into that)... but i digress, grab a cheap spindle of reasonable quality discs, and see if it still does it.

Oh and btw, if you're xbox is v1.0 like mine, don't think because it won't play some discs it's the media or burn process, that thompson drive is the worst dvd rom ever devised on the face of the planet, and i will never buy another xbox because of that crappy experience, sony can have my money from now on.

Scuba, is the -r more accepted than +r?

I just found it weird that when I do a 1 min test it seem's to work in my home DVD I have tryed using DVD+RW in my home DVD but it does not seem to like them!!! O and I bought some cheap DVD-R and it seems like my SONY DVD RW does not like them!!! there called Bulkpaq someone gave them to me. tryed burning a film and my writter would just spit them right out!

Bailey,

I thought that you had a better chance playing with -R media (meaning more machines out there would play -R than +R stuff) though +R media is a slightly better quality item.

Personally I don't like RW media for anything other than my PC

rizzla,

Me thinks your Sony DVD RW is, like many decent burners, a machine of good taste -

Cheapie, no-name media is "spit out" many's-a-time. Try Ritek or Verbatim, something it that neighborhood :-)
