got a wii the other week, so it is the latest model.
Got a WiiClip V4 and a D2pro Chip told it has latest firmware on it.
everything solder o.k. (had this done by a local repair shop)
when the chips in and the wii reassembled the dvd drive isnt working as if theres no power to it, but you get a blue flash from the surround when the wii first turned on.
When the chip is removed the drives fine and plays discs fine.
It is pushed down as far as it will go.
I don't know much about wii's so now I'm stck, lol
anyone else had this trouble? any help, suggestions are appreciated :)
cheers

If the problem is there when the chip is clipped in place then it's either the clip itself or the chip at issue (or the soldering of the chip to the clip)

Check for dust/crud in the clip, give the chip it gets clipped over a blast of spray duster as well and see if it makes any difference.

It could be possible if you have a new Wii that you have a chip that is uncompatible with your system. If indeed your Wii is new it's most likely a D2C2 and no chip will work except the D2pro9 V2. I've heard that all the bugs are not yet worked out though. Also the Wii-Clip is rumored to be unreliable as well. I recently did a mod on a new D2C2 and had the same trouble you discribe. I now know that the new chipset requires the latest chip, D2pro9 V2. You can visit the serial tracker at http://wiitracker.nintendo-scene.com/search.php to see what chipset you currently have but it's not 100% accurate. So you may need a new chip.

Just for the fact. The Surrounding blue light. In other words the CD Tray entrance Does not depend of the dvd drive for it to light up.
I have read about the Wiiclip messing up the installation, I would recommend removing the wii clip and installing it directly with the 15 wires installation which is one of the most stable. Or I could also be that because you might have a D2C2 Chipset. Even though the Nintendo serial tracker doesn't specifies that you have a D2C2 chipset it would be most likely since you bought it recently. That's in "June", making me conclude that you need a D2Pro V2 modchip. =) Tell us how it came out.
