iprep not booting properly

ok guys i posted this awhile ago with no luck, so i thought i would try again. i tried flashing a drive about a month back, a ms-25 to be exact, and i couldnt get iprep to load properly. i kept getting an error in bios about needing something to boot to. i know i had everything right, I made the drive bootable, so on and so on. i re-downloaded iprep twice still no go. so i took my flash drive i had from when i orignally did my personal box and it worked fine. what would cause this new flash drive to not work? btw i tried 3 diff sticks so it wasnt the flash drive itself. my main question is if my driver for my pci sata somehow got changed would that keep iprep from booting? i literally tried everything i could think of except re-installing my sata card driver. have any of you experienced this problem? i guess i am just glad i still had that old flash drive, but i am worried if a new fw comes out i will be screwed because i wont be able to make a new bootable flash drive.

Just iprep won't boot from USB or nothing will boot from USB? I know there are problems with USB booting.

iprep, for some reason i cant put it onto a new flash drive and get it to work, it says sucessful, but when i put it in and boot up my pc i get an error. but my old flash drive with iprep on it still works. and i was able to flash the drive with the stick that already had a good working version of iprep on it. the reason i wanted a second flash drive was because it was my buddys xbox, and i wanted to be able to give him the flash drive back so his key was safe. does what i am saying make sense?

Have you tried using a floppy drive? I ,for one, was unable to boot using my USB stick even though it stated it was created successfully...why?...I have no freakin idea but I didn't feel like spending any money on another flash drive if I could accomplish the same thing with a floppy. What you can do is do the flashing with a floppy then just copy all the contents off the floppy over to the flash drive and give it to your friend. Thats how I flashed mine and I have a copy on the floppy and another on my USB drive, and I have emailed it to myself as well...just incase any of the others get lost.

well i was trying to avoid that as when i built my pc i did not put in a floppy, i know they arnt that expensive, but it would be easier if i could just solve the usb flash drive problem instead.

having problems myself with iprep try using the ntfs4dos cd method and make sure your harddrive is partitioned to use 20gb for dump.i'll let you know if i have any joy.

my main question is why would my old flash drive with the old iprep still work and my newer one with the new iprep not work?

Maybe the file system makes a difference? See if 1 is FAT32 and other NTFS.

also, as you said you built your pc. have you made any changes to it lately? maybe a bios update. and although it doenst make sense, i have found that sometimes you have to set the bios to boot from the flash drive fisrt, and sometimes you have to just select the flash drive from the startup boot option, if your motherboard has that. it shouldnt make a difference, but i had that problem with the MSI P6N SLI motherboard i used to use. sometimes i had to set it in the bios, and sometimes i had to hit F11 during bootup, and select it from the list. might help, might not, but you never know.

yea i disabled all drives and set it to boot to usb only in bios, but thnx anyway, i also hadn't made any changes that i know of. i bought a laptop today and i was gonna try it on here to see if i get the same results. so now i can basically verify if it is my desktop with the probs, or the flash drive and software itself. thnx for all of the good input guys.
