i used iprep with xtreme 1.4. did the dsam then reboot, then fsam then reboot. the tutoiral i was reading just ended after that. everything said success then asked to reboot. it reads movies, but not my backups. i think i'm missing a step because i have xtreme 5.3, which was the original fw i was trying to put on. the problem was that iprep would not load it i got errors. is there something that i have to do in windows to get this drive working?

re-flash it, i think, if i am understanding you right. if that dosnt work you might have to inject the key into the fw

i've got into something else. i'm gonna update the firmware to 5.3 now. I have to use MAke xtreme firmare and then put that into my usb stick to put in the 360 in dos. now i just found something out about disabling firmtool.

why are you putting xtreme on it when you should be putting iextreme on it? or are you taking advantage of playing the original xbox games on a single layer disc?

Double check your backups with mulleter. See if the 360 will play original games. That's your only other option to see if you flashed it right.

Don't worry about movies. The 360 will still play movies if the drive is screwed up. It's the games you got to worry about.

oops i just made another thread about originals. nope they don't play either. it just doesn't make any sense because it looked like the flash went real smooth. it didn't hang, freeze or anything

just because it didnt hang or freeze doesnt mean it went well. iprep is notorious for obtaining a 'bad' orig.bin that it uses to flash the drive with while the backups will be perfect. what you need to do is run the rsam command with your original iprep stick, then reflash it BUT ONLY DO THE DSAM command, then boot into windows, open up firmware toolbox and open up your orig.bin file, and make sure its not FFFFFFFFFFFFFF or 77777777777777 and if it is, just open up one from the backup folder, and copy it, then paste that over the orig.bin and reboot and run the fsam command, and all should be good then.

u confused me. u said do the rsam, but do i do the dsam first to read the firmware? before i do all that though i should overwrite all the info on the mem stick with the firmware i used after i flashed it the first time?

you will need your orig.bin or whatever it names it now because you need your drive key from it. dont erase your original if you erase anything.

i never got to put the orig.bin in the fw. i still have it as SAM-CFW

the sam-cfw is your orig.bin. but you need to run the rsam because currently you have no FW on your 360 drive if it will not read original games. so you have to restore it back to the original state, and then restart the flashing process.

NOOOOO dont remake your stick yet. you can do that after you get done running the rsam command, if you remake the stick and run the rsam, there is no orig.bin to put on there and you will be screwed. if i were you i would make a copy of all the files on there, and save it to your computer in case something happens. and then run rsam, and you could even leave the stick alone, and just use a different serial number, just use something like 1234567 12346 instead and you will have different folders for the second attempt.

ok i did save all the files to my computer, so all i need to do now is just boot into dos, run rsam to restore and i should be cool. i'm thinkin about using xtreme boot maker after i restore all my files instead of iprep

ya, after you restore it, make sure it will play original games. and then just make sure your key is correct before you run the fsam command. that is the only problem you had, it never got checked and you didnt notice that it was all FFFFFFFFF or 777777777.
