Just got this from a reseller. Just wanted to see if you guys think the reason its not working is because its not completely soldered?? I throw it in my wii and it will not recognize anything in the cd-rom. If I take it out it runs fine. Only the red light comes on with the ship.
Im not big on the soldering but its a d2pro 9 and there are 9 soldered points...so im guessing thats not your problem. (Purely a guess though).
Its more likely your not pushing the clip down firmly enough, dont be afraid to use a little more force than you think u should. Also don't forget to put the protect sticker on the underneath of the clip and the cardboard with the hole cut out on top to ensure you don't bridge any connections.
Wait a minute... imgburne didn't you mention that it also came with a cable that you weren't sure what to do with...?
Looking over the link in my above post shows a connection being made to the "FPC"... what ever that is.
See to me in this guide it looks like its just being used as a ground so that nothing shorts out, but not having done this before (actually I haven't even opened up my wii yet, need a triwing) its hard for me to say.
I suppose your problem might not be how it was soldered, but perhaps how it was shipped. Was it packaged properly? Otherwise it may have shorted something out on the board.

When I opened up the system, I didn't disconnect the drive ribbon cable at all, only the other small connector with like 3 wires to it. I put the wii-clip on and powered it up to see if it would work. I only got the red light to flash. Then I looked and saw that I had forgotten to re-connect the 3 wire clip back on the drive. I connected it all back up and got a flicker from both red and blue lights for just a second. Have had no problems with either back-ups or legit games. Make sure that all your connections are tight and check again. Hope this helps.
The cable it comes with is for the programmer if you need to update the firmware on the D2Pro9.
Basically either your chip works great or it wont work at all
