is there a special setting to watch a bluray dvd,this is the first movie I put in and it says this video can not be played.

I don't own a PS3 but it should just play. Give Sony a call, may be a faulty console.

Could it be that the bluray you are trying to play is a coded with a different region than the ps3?

Isn't the PS3 region free though? Aren't all Blu-Rays region free?

Only PS3 games are region-free (almost all). Blu-ray movies are region-coded, though.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that. Then as escalante and canuckerz suggested, it could be in a different region code then the PS3.
