Can anyone confirm if this is region locked, as the US version I downloaded doesn't seem to see my PAL save game!!!

Region locking is meant to force people to buy products from their own region rather than some place on the other side of the world. It was essentially put in place to keep the economy on even playing grounds. Or else everyone would just buy from the country with the cheapest price causing the economy to potentially collapse. That's the theory behind it anyway, its to give the little guys more of a chance.
