HELP! Can't mod 360, but will read???

I've had my 360 running xtreme 5.3, though I have no idea how I got it working the first time. Anyway, it stopped reading originals, so I restored it without trouble. I'm trying to put 5.3 back on there. I booted, it read fine, I rebooted, and now, when I try to write, (select pri master and wait 10 secs, turn on console), it does nothing. I don't understand the problem. It only works sometimes? Do I turn the console off, press 1 and wait 10 seconds before turning it back on, or does the 10 seconds start when I hear the drive completely stop spinning and the 360 is completely off?

Any help would be great!

After your press enter for the command, then you start counting. And I find it it's more like 12 seconds.
