I had a wiikey installed before brawl came out and I took it out. Since, I've purchased the real copies of Brawl and Mariokart (both US) and installed the updates. I recently just reinstalled the wiikey but none of my config disks are being recognized. All of my real games still work. I can tell Wii is recognizing the wiikey because it acted up the first couple of times I tried to play brawl. So I was wandering if anyone knows whats going on or how I can fix it. I've searched a bit but can only find how to make games work after the wiikey has been installed. So basically I'm trying to get wiikey working after installing brawl and mk updates. Thanks guys and sorry if there is help on this somewhere else.

another issue.

Firmware 3.3 detects hardware mods so you will need to use a scrubbed version or a fixed version.

of the game.

I'll need a fixed version of every ripped game I want to play? The hacked 1.3 config wiikey doesn't work for me. How would I scrub or fix a game?

susieqbbb seems to be misinformed about firmware 3.3. I've said this before and I'm sure I'll need to say it again and again. THERE ARE NO UPDATES THAT DETECT MODCHIPS! Don't listen to susieqbbb, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

'Fixed' versions of games are edited versions, generally to remove updates from the disk, and resigned with truncha. However after update 3.3 truncha signed disks no longer work, so a fixed version of a game isn't gonna work.

Scrubbed disks are games where the padding files have been changed to a compressable format. Basically in many games even though the iso is 4.3 gigs the actual game is less than 1 gig, so scrubbing an iso lets it be zipped down to the size of the game. Easier for storage or file sharing. There is some debate as to weather scrubbed disks still work after 3.3. I haven't updated myself so I cant say but some people say it does work and other say it doesn't.

Anyway, on to your original question. There's no problem using or installing a wiikey after the brawl and mario kart updates. I would check your solder points though, because if your wiikey at 1.9b or g and your original copy of brawl works at all, even after giving you some trouble, the modchip is not properly installed. Original copies of brawl only work with wiikeys on firmware 1.9s, no earlier versions.
