An I/O error is a hardware error, it means Input/Output and means that either there is a problem with your drive or your drive can't handle your media. What brand discs are you using? Post a log from Imgburn--->Help/Imgburn Logs

Try it again at 4X....first put the failed burn in and set Imgburn mode to "read" and copy and paste the info from right window here.
EDIT:
Quote: E 03:14:55 Failed to read from file: strange-ts3.iso
Could be your HDD is about to take a nose dive...might want to check it for errors.

BTW, what does it mean if my burner can burn successfully at higher speeds such as 6x but fails at 2.4 or 4x? and does burning at higher speeds have any impact on the game itself as far as the 360 being able to read it, skipping, freezing etc? I know the recommended is 2.4x

What version of Imgburn are you using? I had the same issue with burning. If you're using version 2.4 remove it and install version 2.3.
In the beginning I thought it was my dvd burner. Then I thought it was the dvds because I had created 5 coasters. Finally I installed version 2.3 and burned at 4x. I never had a coaster ever since. None of my games skip or show lag. I don't know about burning any faster than that. But 4x is great!! with less wait. Hope this helps.

Sometimes burning too slow can be just as bad as burning too fast. Think of an open face fishing reel when it nests....and then think of a HDD spinning at optimal speeds, but the burner holding the data back because it has been told not accept it at a certain speed. I wouldn't burn over 4X and it was just a suggestion. The reason that I wanted the "read" info was to see if anything was actually burned to the disc...

...and unfortunately it was so now you have a coaster. Earlier versions of Imgburn aren't supported, but if rolling back to another version gets you results then go for it. A new version should be hitting the streets soon anyway, but truthfully I don't think the version of the program has anything to do with your woes.
I know your drive is getting a little long in the tooth, but I'd rule out some other things before replacing it. If rolling back to an earlier version of Imgburn doesn't bring you joy you are welcome to post a complete log at the Imgburn forum to get help from the author himself.

the drive that my Iso's were on was an external hard drive, so I moved the iso's to my desktop and burned from there and was successful. I don't know why but for some reason imgburn is now having problems reading my isos from this external drive. I can store and open files from this drive and have no problems but for some reason I get an I/O error when imgburn tries to read the iso from this??? Its a fairly new drive....9 months old and this has just started? I hate this. The quest to have no coasters is endless even when you think you've done everything to avoid it...
