Swapping a BenQ drive for Samsung Drive MS28

Hi, I got a couple of questions. first off could some1 show me a tutorial on how to swap my BenQ drive out for my old MS28 drive. They are both flashed, The only reason I want to switch is because i want to cut the ms 28 drive out so that you can see the disk spinning, and so i still have original drive in good condition. 2nd. I cant seem to find my BenQ original firmware anywhere, But i flashed my brothers drive that happend to be the same drive BenQ and model. Are the 2 firmwares the same ? If So i have his still the original firmware because i read that you will need the original firmware to spoof the samsung drive. Thanks for help.

ya, all you need to do is flash the samsung drive with the benqs FW, however you need YOUR original FW, not your brothers as they are completely different. there are no two 360s with the same original FW.

OK, WOOT I found my original firmware for my BenQ drive. So all I need now is to know how to spoof my Samsung drive to be a BENQ drive. Anyone have a guide or instructions how to do that thanks.

Finally figured it out through trial and error, never did find a good solid tutorial on how to do this. But I now fully understand how to swap/ spoof drives. Also how to restore original firmware. If anyone needs help post in here i'll be glad to help you out thanks again.

What is this spoofing business. Get the Key from drive you are replacing, place key into new drive's FW. Simple as that. Don't make it hard for yourself.

It is actually a little more then that. If for example the sammy drive isnt hacked you will have to get it flashed to inject the key from the benq, and spoof the sammy as the benq drive, then you have to put that onto ur usb drive in the backup folder in 1234567/12345 then you have to load into dos and flash it onto your sammy. No one told me any of this. it is not as easy as get key from benq and put it into sammy drive ur done. For those that have not ever done an update, or spoof, or drive swap what ever. there needs to be more information. But i did figure it all out by myself.

I pretty sure all you need to do is have samsung orginal FW SEPARATE from Hitachi FW , and just Hack respective FW with key, then you are good to go.
I'm correct to say a xbox with Samsung ms25/ms28 can accept a Hitacho 47 as long as key is in, because they were both manufactured in same time period as interchangeable parts, just different parts suppliers.
ok just realized you are exchanging with Benq. Different time period. So good find!

What if I want to go the other way around? Replacing a Samsung with a Benq, is it possible?
If possible, is it just replace the Samsung key with the Benq Key? Anyone would show me how to replace the DVD key?

I would imagine its the same way, just inject the sammy key into the benq spoof the benq as the sammy. and flash it to the benq drive. same but oposite if you know what i mean :p

I really need your help guys. I have a BenQ Xbox 360 that makes tremendously loud reading noises. I purchased a Samsung drive and hope to install it. But so far, I am stuck on a tutorial. I have the BenQ original firmware, retrieved the key, and patched an iXtreme 1.4 Samsung firmware using the firmware toolbox 4.6. Then I used iPrep 6.1 as instructed to make a bootable USB drive with MTKFlash. I have a VIA compatible SATA chipset and have already successfully flashed the BenQ using the 2008 textbook. But I am unsuccessful using MTKflash as instructed. I boot with the USB drive and try executing MTKflash with the following command to read the firmware:
mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
But it asked me to choose a drive? The tutorial does not mention anything about this. What can I do?

When you are flashing the sammy drive and it asks you to choose a drive you should choose the one that says (pri extreme master)

I have a hitchachi and it is not flashed yet if i buy a new 60gb xbox 360 with liteon can I replace the liteon with the hitchachi ?

Yes there is a way of swapping the liteon drive with another but it is very hard to do.
