Sony web experiment to be released on DVD

article published on 23 June, 2008

In 2009 Sony will be experimenting with web-based video. A new title called 'Angel of Death' will first be available as a series of 8 minute segments which will later be released together on DVD. It's hard to understand exactly what Sony is hoping to accomplish aside from convincing potential viewers to follow a trail of breadcrumbs from one website to another. It doesn't seem to have ... [ read the full article ]

Maybe its for the galactically dumb sheeple who don't (or won't) know how to download BT, Emule, XNews or Limewire?

Thing is, there are far more idiots out there who will actually BUY Sony's downscaled drek and that will give Sony incentive to try and take up the cause of the RIAA/MPAA by shutting down the rest of us.

Instead Sony has failed at nearly every online venture. They haven't been able to develop a successful online music service
Media riddled in the worst DRM on the planet, paying these guys anything is supporting the MPAA, RIAA to screw us over even more and their equipment is no better than many other makes but 2x the cost that come from the same factory's, i wonder why?

now they are embarking on another stupid marketing campaign.

but even as anti-consumer that blu-ray is, ppl seem to be purchasing this propertarian, DRM global price fixing, format. so you never can tell what the sheep will purchase after a few adverts on the TV created by the MPAA telling us all, it's the best thing since sliced bread.

you know unless you are doing something illegal DRM is not bad, unlike, blu-ray blocking connections (HDCP HDMI DRM), reporting your usage back to the studios (profile 2.0), self disables if a hack is found (other region discs now completely blocked vis SPDC DRM), and then reports this hack back to the studios including your ip address and unique serial number, and if you don't have your blu-ray connected upto the net you will be blocked from viewing any future content as new DRM is issued.

so as its sony with their huge blogging workforce anything is possible! but lets hope both fail to a formats based around a consumer friendly approach.
