The problem is that the IR reciever that comes with the Hauppauge cards, is for controling the WinTV application and changes the channels within that program only.
The Media Cente remote, is kind of like a dumb remote. When you set it up, you need to get it to learn the codes for your new remote andthen relay them back to your STB. Believe me, it sounds alot harder to do than it actually is. Thanks Muz that would be a great help I ambringing remote reciever back in the morning as im convinced the ir reciever is faulty on the site where unit comes from it says it works STBs message on pc says doesnt support STB
I am working on a walkthrough and will try post it up later on

I was a long time member of TGB, but alot of 'Very Good' posts disappeared when they got MS sponsorship. Which is why alot of people stopped posting. Then the 'Disappearing' post problem has got worse when MS took it over.
But back to the point :o]
Didn't MS change the guide setup from XML to hardcoding with MCE05 ?
I'm going to look at the Eurovox guide listing first, to see if that can be tweaked.

I havent had the balls to try it myself just yet.
I've got Fiji running here on a virtual Box, I never noticed that in the settings. I'll have another dig round in it tonight.
Don't worry about all the cr@p about it having to be installed by OEM's.
I installed easliy on a VM which started off os SP0 got upgraded to SP1 and then to Fiji.
From what you've posted here you have more than enough experience to deal with it. Just make sure you install the updates first. Having said that, most of the update is aimed the US HD market, so I don't know if its theres alot of point to it over here.

If they did it would probably be in the Home Theater section.
If you do it let me know, i'll add anything thats different for the Eurovox. Then it could also be uploaded to Eamo's for both the SV's and Eurovox's at the very least.

@tmck2,
If you haven't had your for card to long.
Take it back to the shop and get the 'MCE Kit' of your card, that has the MCE 'Remote' 'Receiver' and 'Blasters' but will probably cost abit more.

Or try PCWorld, there were selling 'Pinnacle' badged MCE Remote kits a few months ago.
Other than that try Flea Bay as Muz has suggested.
Me again Muz Igot the tuner about 3 weeks ago I doubt if they give me a refund any way I like the tuner and the remote works very well otherwise I was wondering if anyone out there got this system namely RC118 IR603 working with win-tv 900H

Hey NGT,

Sorry i havent posted. Been in the hospital :)
I had a hard time shopping for one in Dublin when my first one died.
Have a look at this.... http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=309575
That is the remote you need. I have found Komplett quite good for delivery and price.
I keep meaning to do the walkthrough but something always comes up. I'll try do it tonight cos i am away for the weekend and post up a couple of pictures of my set up.
The remote is the key to getting your set up working and believe me, its very easy to do.

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to watch tv from a eurovox box through Media centre 2005. I also have media portal but havent tested it out yet.

I have just set up my laptop (Dell D610 on a docking station) as a Media centre to a new Sony Bravia via dvi to HDMI and a 5.1 sound system and a 500gb hard drive. All is working great. I am thinking of purchasing the ATI tv wonder usb card as its meant to be the best usb tv tuner going and a mc remote and a ir blaster cable from komplette. But I need to know first if it will work with the eurovox and how I could set it up inc what cable and connections on the box I need to use.
Any help would be great thanks.

Hi Eammo,

I have not personally got alot of experience with MCE on laptops.
There seems to be quite a few models of these USB units and from looking at them, it will really depend on the model. Also, just out of curiosoty, why are you using MCE 05 at this stage as opposed to Vista?
What i would suggest (As i have some experience with it) is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 MCE-Kit. You should be able to get one of these over the web easily enough.
It is possible (in my experience) to use any box that uses a remote with Media Centre, both MCE 05 and VMC. All the tuner does is copy the signal of your remote and re-send it through the IR Blaster. The cables you will need will vary depending on what solution you use.
A typical set up is
- TV cable to your Set top Box
- Output video (Composite Yellow or SHVS) to TV Tuner
- Sound input from TV Box(Usually 2 x phono to stereo jack) to TV tuner
- Graphics card to TV (DVI to HDMI)
As i said, this will depend entirely on what outputs & inputs you have & how good you want your TV quality to be.
Hope this is of some help to you m8.

Thanks Muzzles Ill look into the card and I think Ill be using the outputs you mentioned. I did try vista on the laptop but it was just that bit to slow. MCE 2005 and media portal have everything I need for now.
Also I tried out the PS3 with a external HDD last night and the video quality is great on a 42" tv plays all the usual formats + it has the net it also makes a great media centre.

Glad I found this thread because until the box USB can record series and play back recorded files all the time this will still be the best setup for the SV STB.

come on you hammers
