rumor is that Sony will be releasing the new PS3 firmware 2.40 at this years E3.Sony will be revealing the PS3 FW 2.4 features during the E3 event, and simultaneously make it available on the same day. as far as the trophies go there will be three types of trophies bronze, silver, gold and platinum all achievable by a leveling-up system not by "gamer points". the freatures you get with the 2.4 FW are; * Friend category
* View, send, receive messages
* Manage downloads
* Set the vibration feature of the controller
* Sign in to PlayStation Network
* Register friends
* Manage Bluetooth devices
* Terminate the game
* Music category
* Use the system BGM
* Work the system BGM operation panel
* Settings category
* Assign controllers
* View profiles
* Game category
* Set audio devices
* Use the voice changer
Now that its around the corner what do you think of the New FW 2.4? sony is now on the rise!!

umm I can already manage downloads, sign in to Playstation Network, Manage Bluetooth devices etc.. these are not new?

Lol... Wow I thought it was obvious... That's a list of things you can do under the ingame xmb ^.^' You two sure have egg on your faces now.

Where did you get these specs from anyway? Did they release a new PS blog?

Seriously!
Considering Hardball was citing a blog or site, I'm sure he wouldn't have posted this if all this wasn't for the in-game XMB--which is what 2.40 FW is all about.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

It's like what xbox360 uses. That would be awesome. I hope you can send invites to games and such- during a session. That would make online gaming with your friends much more convenient. Any news about ps3 home??

right theres nothing there about in game voice chat while in separate games. which is somehing i wanted... :(

sorry for the confusion! these features are what you can do and manage from your XMB while playing your game. im so sorry for the misunderstanding
