look at the big bold threads at the top, there are one's on modding that will give you the information you need so at least you have a start. Then you can ask specific questions on what you still are not clear on.

flashing your firmware is a soft mod. like it was already mentioned, trying looking through the tutorials or guides or even search for stuff before making a thread about it. for specific information, try searching for textbooks guide to modding the xbox360 "modding a 360 for dummies".

No You need Kreon drive. I think you already know that. And also no your DVD burner will not work because it;s not DL compatible.

why does it have 2 b DL compatiable, it doesent make any scene, why would you burn a dl dvd if the xbox 360 only reads single layer dvd`S.

All 360 games are DLs. So to burn a copy, you need a DL disc. To burn a DL disc you need a DL burner.
Now make sense?

dual layer means there are two layers
all on one side the burner writes one layer "seals" it,
then starts writing the next layer right on top of the first.
only a dual layer reader or writer can read a dual layer disc
the 360 is a dual layer reader
and ALL 360 game are on dual layer discs.

verbatium.. 9 times out of 10 nothing other than a verbatium will work on your xbox so dont bother buying anything else

Another quick question
i bought my xbox 360 from ebay, it has been already been flashed, how do i find out what he flashed onto it.
ps
the person i bought this from doesent look at his messages.
thx
also could you recomend the best firmware to flash on it.
