Cant get the video image on the DVD

I am fairly new to the whole DVD burning. I read your guide to take AVI files and burning them into DVD's. I did everything it said word for word but the first time I put it under PAL DVD format and my DVD players wouldnt read the disc. So then I put it as a NTSC in the TMPGEnc program and my DVD players read it. But the only problem is that the screen is blank. Only the sound is read by the player, even for the one in my computer. What am I doing wrong, or what is wrong in this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd_page_2.cfm I also used the guide for burning DVD's (the pre-authored NERO one) http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/burning_dvd_with_nero.cfm Tell me what im doing wrong so I stop wasting DVD's.
