let me start by saying this - i loved socom on ps2 and since it's coming out in september my juices are flowing. the best game i've played to date on the 360 is COD4 and that still got boring rather fast. i would play socom for over a year and be happy and content with it.

so, apart from socom my other main joy is madden and since this year the frame rates are supposed to be the same it REALLY made me think about the trade in.

i'm looking for opinions from objective folks. Maybe you have both and you prefer one over the other? or you had both but one won out?

i know, i know... platforms and rpg's go to ps3 and shooters to xbox...

other info is: i hate halo and gears style games.

opinions? thoughts? does one really outperform the other?

i dont know geek speak.

you might as well trade it in so since socom is only on ps3 and you dont like any of the xbox games.

Sports games for the most part have usually been either Sony or Sega's forte, xbox is mostly shooters, Sony and ms are pretty much the same when it comes to racers.

The only sports game I own for the ps3 is NHL08 and it sure doesn't look like a port, if it was I'd be surprised. I have a few friends who are avid madden players and I've never heard a complaint from them any they play online pretty much every other night.

good info, i never liked xbox and was always a sony guy but i just couldnt wait for the ps3 and dropped the cash on 360... now i have the chance at an even trade for a brand new ps3 so i figure why not as long as things are equal (sports games)

what about the online service? free from sony right? good servers or laggy? is it true it's wireless out of the box? i can just use a wireless router and i'm good to go?

The servers are good for the most part, i think. Although i don't play online as much as i'd like to. And yes, it is wireless right out of the box. The only one that wasn't wireless was the early 20 GB one, i think.

First the 360 plays HD-DVD while PS3 plays Blur-ray.
Blur-ray won this format war, so HD-DVDs are not being released anymore, except a certain few titles.
PS3 comes with a Blur-ray drive, whilst I hear that with the 360 you have to buy the HD-DVD drive as an external drive.

And the biggest thing of all s that the Xbox is built and desgned by Microsoft, and as wel all know MS suck! They are supposed to be experts in making OS yet we can see the problems with all their releases there. SO what makes people think they would make a great console???

Well the 360 doesnt play HD-DVD out of the box, as it was brought out as an optional purchase.
I had the 360 with xtreme on it, played it a few times never really got into it (only bought it to keep me entertained until PS3 came out) then it sat in the box for awhile until i said thats it, the wife was looking for a Wii so i traded in.
I was never impressed with either the xbox or 360.
But it all boils down to personnal choice, if you really want socom then go buy it, am sure by now your fed up of the titles you have, and most where relesed for both consoles anyway...
But as i said its up to you, you wont be disappointed if you do... ;-D

I'll go ahead and admit that i am a Sony Fan but i am a gamer first so with that said i'll tell you why you should and shouldnt
should:
Ps3 great exclusives dont just consist of shooters they span in variety from racers to action to rpg's to adventures and even puzzles.

We all know now the ps3 has free online with wireless in box which is a big thing for me now since i love to play online now. but if it came down to it if it made a difference as to what they could do for online i wouldnt mind paying 5/month cus WoW is 15 and i play that ^_^ but that's just a little edge the ps3 has

Price point not sure when you got you 360 but if it was with 20GB hard drive its was probably some where at 349 or so well 50 dollars more will get you 20 more Gigs of hard drive and a built in blu ray player!!!! not only that put if you are a psp owner as i am you can interact with your ps3 wirelessly anywhere (lag is inclued ^_^) but if you are play rpgs not too bad but fast past Gran Turismo or your madden not so much. This are ps1 games dont think it works with ps2 games yet.

speaking of free online Playstation's Home is coming soon!!!! which i am excited about that there's so many geez

and i dont know of any other good points to put out just because there are many but how about the negative side devil's advocate

Umm...wow since i'm not too much of a xbox fan what you get if you get both best of both worlds every exclusive on both platforms

xbox as xbox live!!! yeah and Gears of War!!! =/ Halo too?

I really dont know other than having every exclusive game and not worrying about if i should get it or not so in conclusion

If you want a ps3 go for it i love my 60Gig ps3 it still works haha gonna up grade to a 320Gig hard drive now yeah it can happen just buy and standard 2.5" hard drive and put it right in what the heck just go and get that trade in done now

well, i went in and had a hassle free return despite having bought my box on 11-19-07... well, not originally, my first one was a year prior but it got loud so i exchanged it in november...

i bought a 80gig metal gear bundle that came with an extra remote (so i got 2) and 2 usb cords to charge them with.

it's sitting on the table waiting for me to take a walk with the wife and baby (i have to because she knows i'm gone for the next week or so playing games).

looking forward to tonight!

i also exchanged COD4 for 360 for a 35 dollar trade in and got bad company.

35 dollar trade in on a game bought in november? not bad!

good times folks. hopefully this is more enjoyable then xbox until socom comes out... once that happens i know i'll be set for a year.

i dont know geek speak.

Might as well imo, the PS3 has so many features that it blows the 360 out of the race in features. Gameplay wise, its the same, just the choices of games that are different. One huge difference between the two is the Blu-Ray that the PS3 has, and its a profile 2 player which for standalones are pretty expensive. If you want to get a 360 again, you can when the new processor and price drop occur, which I believe is happening very soon.

If you can afford to keep the xbox 360 then just keep it and get the PS3. I have all 3 consoles just because there are games that are out one and not the other. I asked for a 360 for my birthday because of a few games that are MS exclusives IE Gears of War.
The PS3 does blow the competition away when it comes to overall value and with the new firmware 2.40 it just keeps getting better.
The good thing about being a late XBox 360 adopted is most of the first gen are dirt cheap.

I have both, I think they key difference is that you can mod the 360, unlike the PS3. Even if you could mod the PS3, the expensive blank Blu Ray Disks and the Blu Ray burners make it tough. I think down the road, the PS3 games will blow the 360 away, now they are about the same.

Forgot to mention
If you mod your 360 you risk getting banned from Xbox Live, wich is pretty much the main reason to own a 360

You get banned from XBL, no problem, I've seen program to fake a serial number or something to get back in.

Still another 50 bucks. Guess after all the games you would steal 50 bucks is just a drop in the bucket in comparison.

But still a console that is hacked may not be a good thing in the long run; eventually dev's might move away from it due to lack of profits because people can just dl their games for free.

Ive always had a chipped console....PS1, PS2, PSP, etc, but I decided against the Xbox360 even though it was the only 'chippable' option out of the two. This is because there arent that many decent games so I couldnt see the point in owning all these copied games that Im never gonna play...its a complete waste. I had about 300 copied games for my PS1 and I only ever played about 15-20 of em.

Id rather now support the software companies that are churning out decent games....considering there arent that many great titles the cost isnt too great.

For my PS3 I have MGS4, GTA IV, GT5:Prologue, Motostorm, Bourne Identity and NBA Homecourt. In total, they cost me about £120 (about $200) over the course of 2-3 months. Hardly breaking the bank.....

And I always have my PC to play any downloaded / copied games that arent worth my money......

Playing a modded 360 on XBL is a risk I'm willing to take. If I get banned, then I will still have a console to play backups offline. I love my PS3, just wish you could play backups on it and, if possible, wish the BR disks were cheaper.

How long have you been playing your modded console on XBL?
