Why do some things line up or even show up differently in both versions of browsers

for example one thing that baffles me(ive seen the alignment be different in the 2) but I have a flash movie and i put a word/link on my page to skip the intro if guys dont want to view it. It shows up in Firefox, but doesnt even show up on the page in IE

just was curious

It's because Microsoft being Microsoft, instead of adhering to standards defined for the web, they go on and createthere own standards. So therefore, it may look great in Firefox, but looks like a turd in IE.
