pls help!!!

i was just trying to install the 1.5 kernal for 4.01 cfw, but i forgot to put the original 150.PBP in the root of the psp. When it was trying to install the add-on, it couldn't find the 150.PBP file and shutdown.

Now when i turn it on, the screen is black, nothing comes up, and then it turns back off.

however, i can still get to the M33 recovery menu.

does this mean its bricked. There has to be a way to fix it through the recovery menu.

pls help!!

thx

Usually Black screen on startup = bricked. The fact that you can still load the recovery just means it's a partial. You should be able to restore your system (since you still have USB access) and if you must, run an eboot from the recovery page.

PSP-1)Virgin F/W:1.5 (bought at US launch)

PS3#2) 60GB (05/14/08-Present) - (upgraded to 120GB)

It's been a while since I had to use the recovery eboot, since now there's the Pandora method...

Before though, I'd just use the modified 1.50/3.XX (as this was prior to 4.xx) eboot that had to be created manually and I'd just throw it into the appropriate folder (wherever specifically the recovery folder based on that option).

I don't know if there are any other, newer recovery methods since Pandora that don't actually require a pandora ms/battery... but you could probably do a little research and find out.

so if i do the pandora way, can i unbrick it?

if so, can i update from the 3.70 cfw, after unbricking, directly to the 4.01 M33-2 cfw?

ps.- Is there any other easier way other than pandora.? Is there any way to directly restore it to the 4.01 M33-2 cfw i had?

if you have the Pandora ms/battery then you can restore your PSP and just upgrade it. I don't think you can go straight from 3.71... you may have to upgrade manually to 3.80 before you can skip straight to 4.01 m33-2.

If you have the ability to remake the pandora memory card (NOT the battery), you can load it with the "despertar cementerio v4" which lets you restore the machine to 3.80 from pandora so you can do the quick upgrade in the future.

so your saying i can just unbrick it with the pandora and then go directly from 3.71 to 3.80, then directly from 3.80 to 4.01.

this will help my partially bricked psp, right?

are u sure there's no way to do it quickly through the recovery menu?

its not a full brick, if i remeber i think if u go to recovery and see the run program at /psp/game/recovery/eboot.pbp , i think thats where u would put the 150 eboot u just have to make the recovery folder in game... I think is the key word in this been a while for me messing with this

yes to the first. and since I haven't dabbled with the 'recovery menu' method in a while, based on my previous knowledge i'd say no.

It beats having to downgrade to 3.40OE and back up.

I think his info is faulty. The execution of recovery may be right.. but just sticking in the 1.50 eboot may make matters worse. Pandora is the safest bet... by far.

can anyone confirm a way to fix a semi-bricked cfw fat psp through the recovery menu?

i would do it by pandora, but to get it back to 4.01 M33-2 would take too long and i don't have much time.

i have a flight to catch today and some other nonsense to do, so I'm looking for the quickest and easiest way to recover my psp so i can take it with me.

need more help...

thx

(p.s.- is it possible to recover it directly back to the 4.01 M33-2 cfw i had?)

I found this guide to be very usefull. It installs the 3.71 M33 onto the handheld, but i am sure you can just replace the 3.71 M33 instaler with the 4.01 M33-2 installer.

Also remember to replace the official 3.71 with the 4.01. Hope this works. The guide shows you how to recover the psp using a pandora by using the recovery menu.
