My wife and I just picked up our wii.
I have a few questions I hope that are not too stupid.
I was looking at the service you can join to Download wii
games. they have a 1 time fee that is around $50.00
Are these services any good? They do not say But I'm sure I need to mod the wii to play the downloads right?
I had a Playstation I put a mod in back in the 90's. then a PS2 I use Swap Magic on. I am not 100% new to Mods, On the other hand I know very little about them.
With the wii we got the 2 year replacement no question ask program.
It is with the game store here and with my PS2 you just took it in and they gave you a new one on the spot never even ask what was wrong!
with the Wii I see no tags or anything so I think If I did the mod and the wii died I could remove the mod and get the replacement.
about the Mod I am looking at wiikey. Looks easy to install! the reviews look good! the price is good!
does any one know anything aout this?

That "service" is a scam. DO NOT...DO NOT...DO NOT...even look at it again. Got it?

OK now onto which chip to get. Since you have just bought your Wii brand new from the store it will have a new chipset. Possibly a D2C2. I recommend the D2Pro9 v. 2. You can buy the chip from www.modchipcentral.com . The Wiikey will not work with D2C boards.

Thank you. I will stay away from the download service.
is there any good place you think are good for downloads?

I will order the D2Pro9. how do I make sure my chip set?
I will download the Info on how to do the install todau and read up on it.
I am going to do this all in a next month or so I just want to have agood Idea what I am doing!

You enter your serial number in there and it will tell you what you have. It's not always right though so it's best just to open it up and be 100% sure.

2. As to where to download the games we cannot say. Just google for Wii Torrents but be careful of shady looking places. I personally use blackcats-games which basically has every game known to man. Signups are tight though but you might be lucky.

3. If you have never soldered before then be VERY careful. Practice on old motherboards or just send it off to a professional.
