Hi!

I've just bought a copy of RockBand for the Wii, and it seems that when I place the CD in, the game image appears on the top left, and when I click play, the screen turns black.. and even after a long wait, nothing happens.

I've got a Japanese Wii, firmware 3.2J. Does anyone with Rockband know what version of firmware it requires?

If i were to update to firmware 3.3 (my wii is chipped), would that prevent me from being able to play my backup games?

No games currently require 3.3 to run.

does anyone seem to know why this is happening? I've spent a fortune on this and it doesn't work!

I thought it might have been a CD error, and was thinking of exhanging mine!

Is this happening to anyone else? Any possible solutions?

it isn't a cd error or a firmware error there is new chip detection software in the wii version of rockband i have ran into this myself and currently there is a way to run it but you need a resigned disk.

susie, how did you get round the chip detection software? was it straightforward to do? or would it involve backing up the cd?

Exactly!!!!

For some strange reason if you trucha sign the disk the game functions the only issue if you update to firmware 3.3 you can no longer use the trucha signed disks.

I hope that someone can come up with a solution to this problem. I have a Japanese Wii with a WiiKey, and bought Rock Band the day it came out. Unfortunately, I updated to the newest Wii firmware, thinking that was necessary, and after the initial "give yourself lots of room" image I just get the black screen. I am seriously bummed :-(

Does the chip detection detect all chips or just some ?

I can find very little about this in the world of google.

I'd burn my copy of Rockband, but the thing is i'd have to get the LG DVD reader and to be honest, it's a bit too technical!

I've tried searching on google as well for any news on this and there seems to be very limited information as well.

I do hope they'll come up with a solution soon, it's very annoying that i've not been able to play, even though it's a legit copy!

there isn't a lot of information on this i searched google myself as welll and eventually i asked one of my freinds from college and he got his to work just by resigning the disk all he did was run the disk through the resigner and that was it.

I did the same thing and had no issues whatever is on the disk is on the boot sector of the disk which backups do not copy.
