I have been trying to flash my xbox 360 using the textbook.
When I try to read the firmware, (I am using USB memory stick),
and turn on the 360, the status remains at 0xFF.

You have to turn it on, wait about 5 seconds, turn it off then wait another 5 seconds and then turn it back on again. Did you do it like that? BTW I usually just count to 10, because taking longer doesn't affect, but it done too quickly it won't work.

I've tried that but the screen just shows:
Status: 0xFF

nothing else happens.
