to back up 360 discs or can i just use the same one i use for my xbox and ps2 backups? and if i need one. what is the cheepest one i can get?

You need a specific drive to backup 360 games. Look in the stickies for more info.

no it will not. you could flash it to do dual layer i believe, but it is prolly much more of a hassle then just going out and spending 40$ on a new one.

if it's working properly, don't even flash it. you're risking in bricking the drive.

spend the money on a DL burner.

If you did a search you'd see you have a DVD burner. Not a DL DVD burner. So no, your burner will not work.

but i read somewhere that there where firmware updates so it could burn dual layer discs. is this true?

yes that is true but i am not going to read god knows how may pages to forums to tell you how to flash your drive. you need to make yourself familer with using the search feature not only on here but on the www. it is a very, very informative tool.
