Forgot to let you guys know but the update went through with no problems. Just wanna add to the list of those who updated through a usb device that had no problems. Just need to get these patches so we can play our hard drives music during the game

So I just downloaded the firmware. For those that are experiencing "issues" with it. What exactly is the firmware doing?? Also is the new firmware causing issues depending of what version PS3 you have IE 20GB,60GB etc etc..

There is no rhyme or reason to the issues or to any specific models. I am guessing it is 1 of 3 things

1) Upgraded performance (higher than 5200 rpm) HardDrive's ~ though doubtful
2) Use of WiFi for update and lost packets/info making a partially corrupted file ~ again doubtful
3) PS3 Themes that do not have allocations for new icons/areas ~ to me this sounds to have some merit but doubt we will ever know

So if I were to upgrade my firmware using a memory stick, I will have a better success rate than if I were to do it over Wifi??
