I'm getting real tired of saying this. NO UPDATES CAN DETECT MODCHIPS!

Right in the page you linked to it says "Only the old Twilight Hack and things that exploit the signing bug are affected." That means that all modchips are unaffected.

But that has nothing to do with detecting mod chips, thats because you are updating with an out of region update, obviously.

my point is if you try to update your wii firmware with a different region game (i.e. PAL Super Mario Galaxy on an NTSC Wii that has a 3.0 firmware), then you most likely will get a brick.

Sorry for double posting, but in the "official thread for firmware 3.3" people had trouble playing backups for their wii...so i guess i should leave my wii at firmware 3.2u

Regardless of what some people claim, the 3.3 update will only stop trucha signed disks from playing and does NOT affect mod chips or other backups in anyway.
