dont know my own modchip... how to update?

i bought my japanese wii already modded and i dont know what modchip it is. I tried playin mario kart wii jap but after getting the update message my wii gets the error 001 when playing it. will updating my modchip solve the problem? I want to know how to find out what my modchip is and if i try out the latest wiikey firmware and it turns out my mod is different will there be any problems?

It sounds like the odds are pretty good that you have a wiikey. Go ahead and try running the wiikey update, it wont work if you have a different chip anyway. If it turns out that you have an older chip then you may be out of luck, some of the very early chips were not upgradable. So your only option would be to have it swapped with a wiikey.

thanks i will try updating it. but now i have to look for a wiikey update guy for total beginners... i downloaded the updates 1.9s and this is what i got "wiikey.1.9s.jap" & "cfg.1.9s.jap". where is the iso? And it kinda looks...... tiny .... for an iso.
