Ok, I have this dilemma, and I need some advice. I don't know which Guitar Hero 3 to purchase. The xbox 360 version or the wii version.
I am really leaning to the wii version because I want custom songs, because I have my wii modded already and not my 360.
Anyway, is getting custom songs a hassle for the wii version? Is there any "threat" of the disc not working after particular updates? I dont know much about the trucha signing things so I wouldnt know.
For example, if i fully update, would i still be able to play a modified (custom songs) guitar hero 3 game disc?
I just want to make sure that I get the right one for me, because i dont want to buy the guitar hero wii and than an update gets released for the wii, thus causing my custom song disks to cease to work. If thats the case i would get the xbox 360 version. Thanks for helping!

The Xbox360 version is far far better.
As far as I know you can't create custom disks for guitar hero 3, the xbox has lots of downloadable content tho.

Whats far far better on the 360 version than the wii version? I know the graphics i suppose, but are the graphics on the wii horrid, or just whatever? Isnt the game exactly the same on both systems, with the exception of the graphics?
And I believe i saw that you can get custom songs on guitar hero 3 for the wii? maybe I confused it with 2 though.

yep, the graphics but much more so that there is no downloadable content for the wii.
[edit] oh and the wii version isn't in stereo.

The thing is, you can get custom songs.

Its a guide to put custom songs on the wii version of GH3.
I just need a question answered.
Is it possible that there will be an update released someday, that will make my Custom Song Guitar Hero DVD's to stop working? Because I believe you have to Trucha Sign the custom song GH3's for them to work.
I just need to make sure they will last "forever?"

ok, my bad. I haven't read your link but I'll take your word for it.
If you have to trucha sign the disc though then the 3.3 update will already stop this.

Dang! Ok thanks for the help GG.
Uhm, Do you think there will be any way in the near future to be able to do it still? Such as someone hacking the trucha signing thing or what not?
If the case is no that it will never be possible to use "custom discs" than i might as well get the 360 one.

Hard to say, hacks and breakthroughs are very hard to put a time on, could be next week, could be never. depends whos working on it I guess.

I saw this in a thread about the update at a specific website that says the workaround is to load the disc using Gecko Region Free? Does that mean that I can still load up Guitar Hero 3 Custom Song Discs through the gecko region free thing? If so where do i get it, or where is it found?

Gecko is a work around for freeloader, but will not help with resigning discs.

Ok thanks for all the help.
Last question for now, Is there any way to rip my games through my wii onto an SD card without the gecko adapter? Like can i just put the sd card in the front of my wii and rip the game i place into the wii straight to it?

Doesn't that still need a SD Adapter for the gamecube slot? Is there no way to do it straight to the SD Slot?

yes, but it doesn't use the gecko adapter which is what you said.
Maybe someone else knows of another method but I don't think there is one.
