PLEASE god someone help me. New here, and i have a big question.
Ok, so i installed my WiiKey D2B and it's soldered on perfect(my uncle, a chip technician did it), and the wii is put back together... Now wat?
i've heard you can just play burnt games right away, but it doesnt work, and i tried the config 1.9s and the 1.3 and none work. What should i do?
I really hope i didnt just buy a 40 dollar chip for my wii that does nothing. Thanks for your help

Was it a cut-legs wii? Those use different solder points. If you post a picture of the install someone can tell you if everything is done properly.

When you say it doesn't work, what actually happens ?
How many backups did you try ?
Do originals work still ?
What happens, what error ?

Apply the Wiikey firmware update first, rather than using the config disk. The right firmware needs to be applied to the system before you can change any settings. After applying the firmware try a couple games. It should work let me know if it doesn't.

Ok, the key is soldered on. I put a back up in there and it doesnt work. I tried probably 6 or 7. Originals still work.
It says "Unable to read disc" and has a little question mark. To see the message, just put a movie in ur Wii or something

Well, I dont want to fault your uncle but have him pop the wii open and check that ground point on the wiikey. I have found that even if it looks like its soldered to the board, if you dont appy enough heat the connection isnt made properly.
Secondly, if all the points check out, and you have tried a couple brand name medias for your backups (or even better, try a backup that a friend has that you know to be good) I would point to the wiikey being overheated during the install causing the problem. I have installed many a wiikey and I know that if your not really careful you can cook the chip with excess heat. (done it twice out of 60 or so installs).
Hope this helps.

sorry for the quality. Please help. I have tried every were, ive tested all the pins and solder points for shorts and connection(no shorts, all connected). Ive tried http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/7/597460#3663897
ive tried http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/597460
None of them seem to work! I really would like this to work.
I also want to know, is there anyone i can send it to, like a profesional who does these kind of things? Someone who works for a ModChip website that you can send your wii to and they mod it for you? Thank You Very Much for all your help so far!

Well theres the problem...You have a cut pins wii. Note the 3 missing legs on the drive chip. As for someone who can complete this mod properly we need to know where you are located.

k, you need to do the install as per this pic:
http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/2005/wiicutlegs01yr9.jpg
This is not for the newbie however, personally I would rather do a 19 wire d2pro than a cut pins wiikey but its doable. Another option is to trade your wiikey in for a wasabi chip which uses points other than the cut legs. As for your location CA to me means California or Canada. IF your in Canada theres lots of places you can get this done (I happen to be one of them) but if your in california I really dont know.

Ty very much. But how do you connect htos wires to the key? I'm assuming you just solder those to the key's points?

Well, in that pic the guy has actually re-connaected the pins to the PCB. Doing this essentially allows for a standard install. (Your uncles install would work if you re-connect the pins as per the pic)

Im in California by the way. But, would it be possible to just lift up the pins and re-solder the pins to the black part? All it looks like they did was push them down.

Nope, they've been completely removed. You have to either rebuild them like in that earlier pic or dremmel the plastic away from the exposed wire traces on the D2B chip and solder to those.

yeah, idk. I was thinking about sending it to someone to have them "Do they thang"
and as for the dremmeling... Is that safe? that sounds kinds... risky.
But whatever works i guess haha
I thought there was something(like circuits) in the black plastic? but i guess not. and how far in would u have to dremmel?

I think you're talking about the wii clip and the wlip, but as far as I know they dont get around the cut legs problem either.
And dremmeling is somewhat risky. You have to grind through the surface until you expose the internal wires. Make sure you go very slow as the plastic is soft and its extremely easy to go to far.
