hi there everyone--i want to begin by saying thanks for all your posts and help in all matters wii, ds, and other things copying.

here's my problem: when brawl came out, i "bricked" my wiikey to play it. i used the cut-power-to-the-wii-while-flashing-the-wiikey method. it would have been incredibly difficult to remove the wiikey and install a toggle switch for it due to my rusty soldering skills when i had installed it, so i opted for the easy mode solution.

i recently wanted to fix my wiikey because i finally got bored of smash, so i decided to come back here to figure out what to do.

i read most threads about what to do and i tried it. putting in the update disc, waiting four minutes--all of that, nothing worked. i tried this everyday while i did other stuff since my wii is in the same room as my computer. nothing. i recently tried it yet again with the same results, nothing.

can anyone advise me on what i could do to fix my wii, /finally?/

I've never personally seen anyone who used this method to "fix" ssbb, and actually im wondering if you posted right..You said that you cut power while updating the wiikey in order to make ssbb work...Do you mean you cut power to the wii while running the update on ssbb?

Anyways, not knowing which one you have done. I would first try upgrading the firmware on your wii to the one on the mario kart disc. I have had a lot of luck with that firmware un bricking customers wii's. Secondly I would try the wiikey 1.9s update and see if that gives you any love.

Kind of a guess as I dont really know your situation, but if you were my customer this would be what I would do first.

I think he means he cut power while updating his wiikey to deliberately break it so that he could play SSBB, seems a little drastic but hey, each to their own :)

Well if thats the case and the wiikey firmware is effectively trashed it would be time to pop the wii and replace the wiikey. As far as I know there is no way to "recover" after the firmware is gone. Reason being that in order to do any updates to the wiikey it has to be functional enough to load a backup. (Ie the update disc)

You said you tried using the update disc and waited for minutes and nothing happened.

Have you tried the recovery disc? The Wiikey recovery disc is linked in this thread HERE.
