I have a modded Wii, and it works great. Well I have been searching the net the past few weeks for any info i could find about modding my 360. I found the globe360 mod chip, which seems to be similar to what i have done to my Wii. Although, i don't see many people talkin about it and i havent found much info about it. It seems that more people have just been flashing there 360 with the firmware hack.

I guess my real question is what is the difference between the two. With the Globe360 is it truly "plug and play" (more like solder n play)? Once it's installed can i just dual layer burn my backed up iso and play it or is it similar to the firmware hack?

i may have misunderstood some things and have misconceptions about the firmware hack, but it seems cheaper, yet more involved, could someone please clarify the differences and advantages to both?

Search the threads (not just the threads on the main page) and you will find numerous threads about this topic. You don't want the chip, you just want to flash your drive and not have to solder a chip in. I never attempted it, I paid someone $20 for it, it looked easy, just opened the 360 up and connected it to his computer with a sata cable.

did you pay someone you knew locally, because i don't know anyone that has any knowledge of modding at all. I have no problem paying someone to do it, but how did you find someone to do it?

Also, in the "textbook" the how to hack for dummies 2008, in the Backin Up Games section it talks about the methods and it provides the method of either hotswapping your CD's or buying a Kreon drive, cant i just use my regular dual layer burn to burn them, and if not, which method do you use/suggest?

The Globe 360 modchip and the firmware flash are pretty much the same thing. The only difference between them is the Globe 360 uses an onboard flash. You can't backup a 360 game with any dual layer burner, because of the sectors on the games.Xbox 360 games are pressed just like any other console, and requires a hack in order to dump the sectors needed in order to play them. The Kreon drive or hotswapping is used for dumping the required information from an Xbox 360 game.A dual layer burner can't be used to create the backup it is only used to burn the image after it is created with a Kreon drive or hotswapping.

The best method to use coming from bhetrick's experience:
Xbox 360 Samsung drive to read your images(don't use a Samsung/Kreon drive as it is said to produce bad reads which is included in the readme for Kreon firmware)
XBC(XBox Backup Creator) or Schtrom for backing them up
Pioneer dual layer burner for burning them(best in my opinion, but others can be used as well)
Verbatim dual layer discs that are made in singapore(don't get the Verbs that are made in indonesia)

You should also use Ixtreme firmware for your Xbox 360,as it uses a stealth patching routine.

Yeah Narxis, I found someone on Craigslist. You definitely gotta find someone local because shipping it to someone will cost you $$35-40 at least for shipping both ways, plus you never know if you will get it back.
