ok so i bought a d2ckey chip and i installed it an alternative way where i only had to solder 5 wires to pins of the chips and 23 wires to holes and 1 wire to a resistor. The problem is that when i boot up my wii the disc drive does not work at all. I had a dvd in there when it worked at first but then a connection got loose and i re did the connection and took out the dvd. in the end i have a install that works but the dvd drive wont work at all and im really hoping i dont have to get another drive. anyone have any help please?

Sounds just like the bad case of an install gone wrong. Can you take a picture of it? There might be a bridged connection somewhere.

Ouch man, there's your problem. You do not know anyone who can help you out to make a more secure soldering job?

wait so what are you saying that the wires have bad connections, or what? because the wire strippers i have suck badly and they don't work worth the 5 dollars i paid. would you advise i just simply go with a different install. Like the ones that go on the chip since i can do those much easier now with practice.

Yes if you think you can solder the wires on the IC then by all means go ahead and do so.

okay ive started it and im about 9 wire in after 30 min :p. Thanks for the help, i really appreciate it.

Edit:

Okay so i installed it and it still is showing the same symptoms the blue light is on and the dvd drive wont work i know that my wii is a d2c not a d2c2 and the d2ckey obviously should work. i checked my wiring under a 10x magnifier and found no bridges. what should i do, i think the chip is faulty.
