Hey Guys!

Ok... first let me say I have read, and re-read the stickys and random threads. There are a lot of contradicting answers, and its very confusing to me (noob and all). I don?t want to do anything to break my Wii so I want to make sure Im clear. If anybody here could answer my specific questions id really appreciate it. Feel free to talk to me like a moron, since this is my first mod/hack. The more descriptive the better! I know I?m asking a lot, so I tried to organize it.

I am unable to play a lot of the new games. They show up in the channel window but when I click start it gives me the 001, unauthorized device error.

My Set Up: I have a (non Dc2) U.S. Wii, currently version 3.3U. I have a Wii Key and Clip (soldered, and updated to 1.9s by modchipstore.ca) I have no problem playing other "older" backup games, or burning disks.

The games that are having the issue for me are:
Boom Blox
Lego Indy
Manhunt 2
Narnia
Wall-E
Incredable Hulk
Kung Fu Panda
Smarty Pants

I have spent 3 days researching/trying to fix this. I have tried so many things, and wasted about 20 disks. I even tried WiiScrubber, and Patcher. I tried to fix the error myself, but I am a noob, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

I was told in another forum that I need to "update my Wii Key to 1.9g". But isn't "g" an older software version for the wii key?
Don't I need to be on 1.9s b/c it is the newest version?

I thought 1.9g doesn't have "multi region on and update blocker on" am I wrong about that?
I have a lot of Pal game disks for my US Wii and am afraid to get bricked if it tries to update on 1.9g.

If anybody is able to help me, or tell me what I'm doing wrong id really appreciate it. I heard this forum is the best out there, and I see people post how easy it is to fix these problems. I am at my wits end and will do anything to get these games working. I'll even hug somebody. Anything... if somebody can just get me out of my misery! lol.
Thanks guys!

wat u need to understand is that for the modchip, its best to get the latest firmware but not the wii's. 3.3 is bad cuz it blocks all game iso that have been modified such as trucha signer or generic patcher or watsoever.

You should be able to play any backup with 3.3u as long as the disk has not been trucha signed.

And even then you could play them using Geckp RF to load them I believe.

If you are getting an 001 error then I can't see how you are 1.9s as you should not get that error with those games if you were.

sup moxy. listen i had the same problem.

What sorted it out for me was... (and i am unsure about the restrictions on 3.3)

I got the hombrew channel working on my wii, and used geckoRF (it comes standard with the homebrew channel apps) make sure you burn your ISO's without using any programs such as brick blocker wii scrubber etc, so your pretty much burning the game stock standard (i use Nero @ 4x burn)

Do you know how to use the tp hack.... you need to learn how to do this to get the homebrew channel. for this you need a copy of zelda twighlight princess (original or burned) and an SD card.

once you use the tp hack to get the homebrew running your free to try all the tips and tricks offered, cause as i believe the 001 error usually indicate your wii is picking up the region miss match (P.S your right in never updating your NTSC wii with PAL games)

I can send you all the files needed to get this sorted if you have a copy of zelda.

(FOR ANY1 ELSE READING THIS)
-i have heard rumors that there is a new ver. of the TPhack for 3.3 users, is this true?

Thanks guys...

I have no idea what " Geckp RF" is, but I am a little familiar with homebrew (i got it up and running on my DS). I have Zelda and an SD card if anybody can help.

When i went to link above for info... it says the TP Hack is for "unmodded Wiis" so Im not sure how this will work for me?

Does the TP Hack add a homebrew channel, or change the entire Wii software like it does on the DS? If its just a channel, do i just put the error 001 disk in and then load it through the channel?

Sorry for all the questions again, and thanks so much!

The TP hack link was in answer to cap_pro's post.

Gecko RF will allow you to run trucha signed discs on a 3.3 wii you would need the TP hack to install it. There are lots of guides about for this.

You could try running the discs you have a problem with through Gecko

K here are the steps.

1. download the TPhack here: http://hackmii.com/2008/06/twilight-hack-v01beta1/

2. download the homebrew channel and its apps here: http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/ (!!!you want the .ELF file!!!)

3. Set up for the TPhack guide: http://www.consolespot.net/forums/wii-ha...brew-guide.html (!!!ignore the usb gecko requirement!!!) main thing here is to know which region your zelda is and use the right file simple.

4. Once you have set up the save game and the SD card use the TPhack to install the homebrew channel.

5. now put all of your apps for the homebrew channel on your SDcard (read the readme to learn how to set up your SDcard for the homebrew channel)

6.run the homebrew channel, put your game in, run GeckoRF

It is perfectly fine to use WiiBrickBlocker and Scrubbed ISO's. The new 3.3 firmware does not effect them.

I know first hand that WiiBrickBlocker is not effected by the 3.3 firmware update and have read on here and other forums that scrubbed games work as well.

are you referring to using the games in geckoRF?

If not is it just truca signed discs that 3.3 protects against?

And on the topic i have a question of my own, how does 3.3 affect .wad files or my current vc channels?

I do not use geckoRF WiiBrickBlocker and Scrubbed games boot perfectly fine without it.

An example of things 3.3 firmware will effect is using truca signed exploits that get rid of the #001 error, region patcher's that use the truca exploit or games that can be modified like Guitar Hero.

I have been on 3.3U since it has been out and have not had any issues with using WiiBrickBlocker. As for region patcher's I just use the built in region override that is provided on my Modchip. Most Modchips have a region override option and region patching really isn't necessary for most users.

Ok that was NOT easy. LOL. Well for me anyway. But I finally figured it out, and got The Homebrew Channel working.

I have to go re-burn the disks that were Error 001ing b/c of course i threw them away! In the meantime, I have a few questions if you wouldnt mind.

1. I installed the homebrew channel with a .elf file. Some of the apps I would want to run show a .dol file. Are they ok to run?

2. The Homebrew can be installed w/o a mod chip... does that mean it allows people to play backed up games w/o a mod chip?

Thanks guys im off to d/l and hopefully finally play Boom Blox!

P.s. Feel free to make and suggestions for apps I should d/l.

That's very odd, because I had to use PPF-o-matic with a patch to get Mario Kart and SSBB to run without the 001 error on my launch NTSC Wii. I have 3.2U firmware and 1.9s Wiikey.

The 001 error was such a pain in the rear that I do not want to take a chance with the 3.3U firmware at the moment, especially with all of the uncertainty regarding what works/does not.
