I recently bought Rock Band for wii. I have been playing it without problems since I bought it. For all the game I own, I like to have a backup copy, in case something happens to the original. Normally I find the images on the internet and burn those, I do not want to bother backing them up myself. Is there some problem with backing up rock band? I have not been able to find a backup to download anywhere. I am not asking for a link to an iso, all I am asking is whether it is possible to back it up, because I haven't seen one anywhere.

It must be possible to backup since there has been an iso on Newzbin.com for 11 days now.

Yea, there is an homemade ISO floating around somewhere.

It's a real shame too, it seems that the scene really died lately. No Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Rock Band, Wall-E (working copy) among others. Wonder why the sudden lapse?

This is one of the reasons why I gave up torrents. It use to take me 2-5 days to get a Wii game, now it is under 45 minutes thanks to the newsgroups and a 25mb Cable connection.

Lol. Newsgroups don't require invites. You pay for the service each month, anyone can do it. Giganews is the best.

What kind of speed are you getting with Giganews. I just did a 3 day trial and it was the same speed as my newshosting account, but $10 more a month, so I didn't think that it was better. It did have longer retention, but I think 80 days on newshosting is sufficient. Both were around 950 KB/sec about 1 Meg/sec. Can this be tweaked for faster speeds, upping connections did not raise the speed any?

I'm just going from what most people tell me, I think the 200 day retention is a big factor and I have heard people often get speeds in excess of 2 meg/sec.

Personally I'm a tight git and am happy to download torrents at 500k/sec for free :)

[edit] I just did a speed test on giganews which claims I am getting 4.1 Meg/sec, how acurate this is I have no idea.

The rock band disc somehow made my wii unable to play modded guitar hero 3 discs. For example one with songs from gh2 and one with songs from gh1. Normal games still work fine though. So watch out if you don't want that to happen.

If you updated your wii to 3.3 then rockband modded discs won't work as they are trucha signed. Play them through Gecko OS and all should be fine.

I'm trying to avoid the 3.3 update if at all possible.

I have US Wii with d2cPro9 mod chip and the US/NTSC version of Rock Band. I tried running the iso through brick blocker to remove the system update, but when I try to run the disc I just get a black screen.

Anyone been successful with stipping the update from a backup of the game? Any suggestions?

Spatter9:

I've spent many an afternoon trying to get Rockband USA working on my chinese bought console (3.2j) (also has a D2Cpro chip, took the damn box apart to find out what the chip was to see if that was the problem... turns out that chip can make life a little more complicated)
In the end I had to unbrick my Wii using Bushings latest firmware update (hunt this down: wii-system-menu-update-JAP-v288-repad ) you def. need the repadded version. Finally I could setup the internet connection settings (had never needed them before) using a translation of the jap menu which is important for the next step:
Then after wasting time failing to load Homebrew via the various .iso's you can download, I ended up tracking down probably the only copy of Zelda Twilight Princess left in Shanghai, and applying the TP hack you can get from the guys at HBC.Hackmii. to download the Homebrew channel plus all the Apps (actually I ended up installing Version 7 of Homebrew from somewhere else as 8 didnt seem to work, but has now since updated itself ovdr the net)
Then used Windows XP to reformat an SD card to FAT, chucked all the relevant files to get Homebrew running, loaded it all through Zelda game, once Homebrew Channel was up, ran Gecko OS to change system setting to English Language, Force NTSC, Force TV and
Hooray,
There was Rockband
But
As I posted on another thread, only the Mic is discovered... so I'm looking for help getting the other instruments recognised as I'm site at Karaoke :-(

Good luck!
