Well seeing as 2.40 bricked a few peoples ps3's sony took it off for a while with people still stuck on 2.36... I'm guessing its just for them and update for the people who missed it, so yeah just a more stable version.

Im pretty sure playstation.com has the file available for download. Just make a folder on the flash drive called "PS3". then within the PS3 folder, you create another file called "UPDATE". place the update file that you downloaded from the playstation website in the UPDATE folder. And yes the folder names has to be all caps. put the flash drive in your USB slot onthe ps3 and follow the directions to install from SYSTEM update

Jeez, really? How come it takes so long? I'm about to download it right now. If it takes longer than 5 minutes to download and install (how long it takes every update), I'm gonna be pissed.

2.41 is the so called "fixer upper". I had no problems with 2.40, the update that bricked peoples consoles but all I have is problems with 2.41!
1. After install, I couldn't get my controller to connect via bluetooth. It took some 5 restarts of the system to work. Turning on with a controller didn't work either. The controller connected 1st try before update.
2. I ran the Internet browser. I left it idle for about 2 minutes and came back to see the internet browser frozen. I hit Triangle and went to exit. The browser closed and the PS3 also froze.
3. While playing a game I got the "You have been disconnected from PSN" error. Now I always get the error on a WBR-2310 but not that fast.
Anybody else having problems? I am pretty disappointed with this update as of now. Too bad Sony doesn't have an option to reflash firmware incase something went wrong during the install, I wasn't at the system during the install.

I'm pissed off because the update takes forever to download and, what's worse is that Sony's website doesn't let you download it. The update on Sony's website is the old 2.36, not the 2.41 i need. Unless anybody knows where i can download it.

No its because my internet is as slow as ****. Thats why instead of getting excited at updates, i get pissed off. My download rate is like 15kb/s LOL

Anyone heard of 2.41 bricking any ps3's? I held off of the 2.40 update so if the fix bricks my ps3 I'm gonna be super pissed.

Sony did say that they are fixing bricks from firmware for free. Just backup your data and install it. All the bricks from 2.40 could be fixed by formatting the HD via computer.

Damn!
I clocked my download AND install at 6 minutes. And yes, I was angry that it took longer than 5 minutes ;)

It is working fine now but why did I have problem???
I did notice that the In-Game XMB is now a black picture and doesn't show your background image to save memory.

this update actually improved my wireless network speed. o.o i can download @ normal speed now i think. Cuz I downloaded a 200mb files after the update and it went pretty fast as if i was using my laptop or something. And my online gaming is alot better now. Faster access to Playstation store as well.

yea same here...the download and install was only a little longer than usual but it was fine.
And I dont know but when I played COD4 online after the update the game seems alot brighter and more colorful for some reason...maybe it was just me.

I played MGS for about 3 hours on my console, no freezing. I guess the issues I had were initial issues.
