I am new to the scene, and I am about to purchase a PALwii from Toys R Us in the UK. So, I was doing research and I came across what I think are the two best chips out there currently:
Wasabi V2 and D2Pro 9 Wire.
All I want to ask is, what advantages and disadvantages does one have over the other, and which one would you go for personally, excluding the factor of price.
D2Pro2 would be a little better then Wasabi in my opinion.
Both Modchips pretty much have the same features except for firmware update options.
D2Pro2 has both DVD and Jtag (D2Prog) update options. So D2Pro2 would be a little more future proof.
The Jtag programmer (D2Prog) can completely reprogram both on-board chip and SPI flash. Where Wasabi only has the DVD upgrade which can only access and change SPI Flash.
So if there ever comes a time that the Modchip needs to be re-written from bottom up it can be done easier with D2Pro2 since it has full access to the complete Modchip.
