Some of my AVI, DIVX ect format movies require a live update to play. My question is once it downloads the update it plays fine but why do I have to connect to live for the update everytime I want to play the same movie? Is there a way to save the update to the harddrive or memory card so you dont have to be connected to live evertime?

Delete the update off your harddrive.Then create a new xbox live account(free one month) download the update under the new screenname, For both dvd's and divx streaming Then you should be good to go.I had to do the same thing to both my xboxs.

thanks for the info, I tried to delete the update and then download again without creating a new xbox live account and it didn't. I wonder why it is necessary to create a new xbox live account to do this?

I stopped being lazy and created the new live account and downloaded the update again. It worked like a charm. Thanks for the help.

Just make sure whatever you do dont put your harddrive on another xbox in try to play movies,cause when you do it will re-ask for you to be connected all over again.The update is just for the xbox it was downloaded for.
