LightScribe DVDs now available in color

article published on 8 July, 2008

Cool, lightscribe disks are pretty neat and nice when you want to label something without have to print and stick a label correctly.

Its nice to see them starting to color them differently.

Why is there a difference between a DVD and CD in this regard? Why does color make a difference as far as the media functioning correctly, I thought as long as the disk was transparent it was fine regardless of color, sex, creed, or national origin? I mean aren't most DVD's blue, purple, or clear? I bought a big spindle of the colored CD-R's over a year ago and they really aren't that impressive. I think they're verbatium lightscribes though.

And what is going on with these aggravating drop down freaking banners? I kept clicking the damn thing and it wouldn't close every time I navigate to a new page I have to hunt for the freaking [X] to close the stupid thing. It doesn't make me want to buy that product, if anything it makes me despise the damn product.

They're offered in a variety of brands, including HP, Imation, Memorex, Philips, and Verbatim.
Hopefully also tayio yuden eventually? All I can find are inkjet and thermal, not even just a regular clear coat surface.

The popup ads started in mid may and seemed to have ended recently. Unfortunately it seems that they have come back, check here for more info- http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/664079

It's a novelty. I've used a few to burn stuff for family members. I like the "oohs" and "Ahhs" my grandparents make when they see a lightscribed disc I made for them...lol. But the price never justified buying a spindle of them for my own personal use.

What software do you people find the most easy to use with lightscribe. I currently use Roxio but I am unable to move or edit the picture once I grab the image to print on the background. So my images are off center or cut off but now i am settling for covers that I would have not choosen if I knew what I was doing. I just started using the lightscribe feature a couple of weeks ago.

Is there also a software that allows me to change the shading of the image? Basically almost invert or change a certain feature to be darker/lighter?

Here is hoping people still keep up with OLD news.

Thanks,
edlonwlf
